As Congressman Paul Ryan cracked a joke about him, Tom Nielsen found himself face down on the floor being handcuffed by police. The 71-year-old retired plumber from Kenosha was thrown to the ground, placed in handcuffs, and arrested for trespassing and resisting arrest after objecting to Ryan's plans to gut Social Security and Medicare during his congressman's only public appearance scheduled during the August recess -- a $15 Rotary Club luncheon in West Allis on Tuesday. Looks like a cut and dry case of disturbing the peace to me. Pops got his 36 seconds of internet fame and will not be charged with anything after a short detention by the cops.

"Most of our debt, in the future, comes from our entitlement programs..."

"So? I paid into the system for 50 years!"

"Uh, sir, no ones plan will affect you. We're talking about changes for folks much younger than you so we can face the fiscal realities..."

"So???? I paid into the system for 50 years!"

"Well, that's great. The fiscal realities are, most of our debt will come from our entitlements programs. We need to increase taxes and/or cut other spending and/or reform those programs..."

"So?????? I paid into the system for 50 years!"

"Uh, yes, sir. As I say, this won't affect you..."

"So?????????? I paid into the system for 50 years!!!!"

"Well, OK. Moving right along. We will now discuss Getting Blood out of a turnip 101..."

Should have let him speak a bit more so we'd have more to go on than just "I paid into the system for 50 years..." This could have been a GREAT moment to deal with an unvarnished thought from the left. Those are ALWAYS fun and informative.

No, the old guy made an ass of himself and was carried out in cuffs. Ryan made a good joke at the old farts expense. But you wouldn't know that.

Actually, that's a classic example of going "thatguy" on someone. An exchange that involves a level of stubbornly obtuse that few ever manage to achieve.

Congratulations.

Since when does "71 year old retiree questions Paul ryan" equate to "71 year old stands up in the middle of an address and begins shouting like a crazed fool"?

That's what Dems consider "debate".

Regarding thatguy's asinine posts: now do you see why I think it's such a waste of time trying to talk to the Left? They have their own reality and you cannot have a conversation with someone who is hallucinating.
