As a responsible pet owner this really bugs me with all the lost dog ads. First don't we have leash laws in Maryland? It seems people just let the dogs out no fence and get all upset when they are gone. Or the ones that tie them to a tree in the heat and cold and rain and the poor dog spends all of its time trying to get loose. Get a clue and take care of your pets!

You wrote that before I commented on your thread.
No big deal. :yay: You just go back to your throne and continue to be perfect and judge others for accidents that happen.
Off you go. :coffee:

I don't believe there is a sudden epidemic of irresponsible owners or lost dogs. I think it just seems that way because we now have many more ways of getting the info out that we are looking for our lost pet.
I think it's great that someone can post the info on facebook or the forums, etc. and get reunited with their pet.

First of all I thank GOD every day that I don't have to post about a lost pet. How can you be so critical of a situation that you don't even know the entire reason why their pet is missing? Please show some compassion. People wouldn't be posting if they didn't care about their animals?? I'm sad for you and hope that one day someone doesn't leave a door open or your pet gets spooked by something or you fall down and drop the leash and your dog takes off and you have to post that you are looking for your dog.
You wonder why people are "clicky" on here. I see only pet owners that are offended by your generalized, mean, nasty, lack of information statement.
I'll pray for you.

:coffee: wow.... really?
im sure most pet owners DIDNT ask for the pet get get lost... could have happened for MANY reasons.
as for a coworker of mine.. he had a contractor that had come over to look at a job (friend didnt know they came by as he was sleeping durning the day.... )
so the contractor let himself into the backyard and didnt shut the fence... my friend let his dogs out back.. and two were hit and killed by a car.
so seeing that they never enter or exit from the fence.... how did he know the contractor had stopped by? how did he know the fence was open?
If a dog gets spooked and bolts due to a storm... things happen.
... what i look at is how hard does the owner go to try to locate their dog?
NOW... for owners that just leave their pets out in the weather.... MOST of them could care less for the dogs... Some owners really do take care of their pets outside.
and some dogs are REQUIRED to be outside.

But you posted anyway, so you came looking for trouble, sometimes when you have a thought, it's best to just keep as that, a thought. What you posted is not anything new to the forums, people lose their pets, accidents happen. People here do what they can to help the owner get their pet back.

Then why did you post something so accusatory? Accidents happen all the time. As stated in an earlier post, I hope your pets never stray, but if for some reason they do, you can count on the people in this forum to help reunite you and your pet.

:yeahthat: I had my dog in a fenced-in yard and the little whore still got out. She managed to run her little tiny legs 4.8mi to SMCM where someone so gracely called Animal Control. She spent the night in the "pound". But thanks to this forum, I found her. Someone on here let me know that they saw her on the shelter's website. And like Kwillia said, there are no more lost dogs today as there were 10 years ago. Social media has made it easier to find your dogs.

I know the Baynet has run stories on several lost dogs in the past! I also hear them on the radio a few times a month.

I know the Baynet has run stories on several lost dogs in the past! I also hear them on the radio a few times a month.
I'm glad she ran away for the night actually. I haven't loved an animal since I was a kid. I did not think I even cared about her really. I thought that I'd be fine if I never had a dog again. I got her because the kids were begging for a dog. I was wrong. When she became missing I was franctic. Now, she's truly my best friend. I love her so very much and would be devestated if something happened to her.
She's gotten out of the fence before but has always made her way home within 15 minutes or I've chased her down the street and gotten her little butt. A few neighbors have brought her home to me. I filled every hole, closed every tiny gap in the fence, and put her out for smaller amounts of time. Yet, she still managed to find her way out. My immediate neighbor told me that she watched her climb over the fence!
I thought for sure that she was knocked up. Again, I was wrong. She went into heat a month or so later. I kept my eye on her and she did not get out. I thought that was that. She was not going to get knocked up and I would make an appointment to get her fixed. Again, I was wrong. Neighbor's dog hopped my fence and knocked her up. Four puppies later, she has an appointment to get fixed in 2 weeks.

Having been one of those people frantically looking, in the past.... In my case, two times, the batteries died in her collar, and one of the times, she decided to go for a swim through the puddle behind our house, and shorted out her collar.
We did not plan for her to get loose, and actually, now, because of the problems with her collar, dont let her loose on the farm anymore.

I am glad you found your friend. :huggy:
my friend was walking his police K9... ON LEASH... she put her head down... and slipped her collar.
due to the breed she was .... it was easy for the collar to come off.
we searched for over a week for her... and finally it was an ad i placed on the baynet that got her back home.
people picked her up , over 10-12 mile from where she went missing... and took her another 10 miles to their house... they never came back that way so they didnt see ALL the flyers out.
