xxxx – With today’s announcement about Paul Ryan, Mitt Romney is doubling down on the Koch brothers’ agenda :faint: – selecting a running mate who has received thousands in campaign cash from the oil tycoons. Ryan is a staunch climate change denier and a leading voice in the most anti-environmental House of Representatives in our nation’s history. There’s now no doubt that a Romney-Ryan administration would pose a serious threat to our environment.
Will you join us in fighting back? Chip in $5 today to help us get out our message in key swing states and defeat the Romney-Ryan ticket.

Romney-Ryan Would Devastate America’s Clean Energy Economy, Jeopardize Thousands of Jobs
WASHINGTON – In selecting Rep. Paul Ryan (WI-1) as his running mate, Mitt Romney is doubling down on one of the most extreme budget plans ever written.
“Mitt Romney has chosen a running mate who is a leading voice in the most anti-environmental House of Representatives in congressional history. Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan would continue giving $40 billion in taxpayer handouts to Big Oil, devastate the renewable energy sector and jeopardize thousands of jobs all across this country,” said Gene Karpinski, President of the League of Conservation Voters (LCV). “Romney is doubling down on the Koch Brothers agenda--picking a running mate who has received more money from the oil tycoons than nearly any other politician.”
A Romney administration would devastate the renewable energy sector, which is one of the fastest growing industries in America. The extreme Romney/Ryan budget plan would cut $3 billion in energy programs in 2013, and would spend just $150 million from 2013 to 2017, barely 20 percent of what was invested in 2012 alone. It also calls for giving Big Oil $40 billion in taxpayer subsidized handouts while cutting billions of dollars in clean energy investments.
Just like Mitt Romney, Ryan also opposes tax incentives for renewable energy. Ryan has voted in Congress against everything from tax credits for renewable electricity and alternative fuels to raising CAFE standards for automobiles. All the while, Ryan has received $244,250 and counting from the oil and gas industry.
Ryan’s extreme voting record has earned him a score of just 3% on LCV’s 2011 National Environmental Scorecard, with a horrible 20% lifetime score. The non-partisan scorecard is a nationally accepted yardstick used to rate members of Congress on environmental and clean energy issues. Based on key environmental votes in the House and Senate, it is often used by the media to quickly describe a Member’s position.
