I'm looking for a used or refurbished laptop. Needs to be capable of running Windows XP, surf the web, and run Microsoft Office products so I'm figuring a Pentium III equivalent or better, 128 MB of RAM, built in ethernet and dialup, 15+ GB Hard Drive, and either CD-RW or DVD-RW.
Don't need any bells or whistles like infrared ports, flash drives, kick@ss video cards, etc. Just your basic, run-of-the-mill, recreational/home office type of computer.
I'm not sure how much I should expect to pay for something like this, because I haven't priced laptops lately. Do you think $300 or less is reasonable?
If anyone has any that they're looking to sell, let me know.

Try ebay. I got a nice Dell C600 P3 750mhz, 192meg ram, 20gig HDD, CD Rom drive, Floppy Drive, built in network and modem, power supply and battery for around 400.00 I run WinXP PRO with no problems whatsoever, even bought a DVD/CD-RW combo drive for it which works flawlessly. 300 is a little low for the specs you ask for but if you can raise a little more then you are in the ballpark. Check out http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewSellersOtherItems&userid=n2thecubs&completed=0&sort=3&since=-1 This is the guy i bought mine from. Great to deal with. My HDD went bad after a few weeks and he immediately replaced it without me having to send in the dead one. He was very professional and I loved dealing with him. I've had my laptop wirelessly on my home network for almost 6 months and have never had a problem. Give him a try and see if he can find something for you.
