Microsoft released a security bulletin yesterday alerting computer users of a critical flaw in software that processes JPEG images. The buffer overrun flaw could allow a malicious program to be executed if the user views a specially crafted JPEG image file. While no viruses have been reported that exploit the flaw, experts warn that that may change quickly.

That SP2 only fixes it for Windows. You need to update office, and any imaging software that you have.

It's been known for years that viruses can be embedded in jpegs
I didn't know that.
I've worked under the assumption forever that all JPG email attachments were safe to open. :shrug:
