PONDERAY, Idaho - A woman doused a two-month-old girl with pepper spray while feuding with the infant's family in an Idaho Wal-Mart, police said.
Lorlie Gantenbein, 36, of Sagle, Idaho, was charged Tuesday with felony injury to a child. She was released after posting $5,000 bail.
The infant was recovering at home after being sprayed Monday, Police Chief Mike Hutter said. The baby was treated at a hospital.
The cause of the dispute between the families was not immediately known.
"It sounded like this has been going on for a while," Hutter told the Bonner County Daily Bee newspaper.
"It just escalated."
Police said Gantenbein's 16-year-old daughter sprayed the infant's grandmother and aunt, one of whom was holding the child. Gantenbein then took the canister and sprayed the baby, authorities said. The juvenile was cited with two counts of battery.

Target
And that is awful for that 2-month old. Gezz, that stuff burns badly. I'd be suprised if the baby DIDN'T have eye damage. :duh: Fricken morans. That is why I don't carry my issued pepper spray. I just KNOW I'd end up with it in my own eyes.

Even Target is getting Tardmart overflow. I usually just need stuff from the front of Tardmart and I run in and out as fast as I can. :patriot:

Gantenbein said she bought the spray for her daughter as tensions rose between the two families after the Gantenbeins rented property to the baby's family and then evicted them. The feud escalated when her daughter began dating the baby's father, she added.

Getting sprayed four times during training was enough for me for life.

I only had to do it once during training, and I cried like a baby. :killingme
It was worse then when the guys at work decided to practice flex cuff training on me.

It was during one training. The guy spraying me kept on missing my brows so the other 3 times hit me on the forehead, neck, chest and shoulders. In other worlds my upper half of the body was pratically covered in the stuff. I got a much bigger dose than if I was commiting a crime.

I was dosed with tear gas a few times while in the Navy. I doubt that it has the same immediate effect or intensity, but it was nasty stuff. I developed a healthy appreciation for gas masks.

I was gassed in Boot camp in Orlando in 91 also. I was "pepper sprayed" or OC in PAX River for Naval Security Force(NSF) training. Believe me, the pepper spray was MUCH worse. I remember the tear gas effect going away after less than couple of hours but the OC was much more painful and lasted couple of days. It reactivates when it gets wet. It burned everytime I bathed or took a shower. I yawned about 12 hours after I got sprayed and it reactivated when my eyes teared up a bit. It happened on a drive on the way to FL in SC. Good thing I was the passenger at the time.

I went through boot camp at Orlando also, in 1979. That was when I had my first and second gassing. Then again at Groton, CT in their sub school because I worked on the USS Fulton (AS-11) submarine tender and had to go through periodic gas mask training.
That Pepper Spray sounds like some truly mean stuff!! No antidote?

I was at Tiki opening one year and a fight broke out. Cops came over to try and subdue, to no avail, so they hosed down the combatants. I was standing nearby and the slight mist or whatever it was stung my eyes. I can't imagine getting sprayed up close and personal. :yikes: It didn't seem to phase these ol' boys, though - they came out swinging and ended up face first on the pavement.

Having it in my eyes was bad enough but what freaked me out most was having it all over my chest. That made breathing difficult.
