After seeing some postings on the internet.. and talking to my Supposed better half, there seems to be a problem with NMCI. I remember when I first got my NMCI computer I couldn't log onto the forums, and someone made a change to the server and all worked well. Did we just change servers recently and the change needed not implemented? Or did someone out the fourms to NMCI??

Access with NMCI comes and goes. We switched servers a month ago but, throughout forum history, there's been no rhyme or reason as to when NMCI will decide to block us. And we'll be blocked in the morning, then magically unblocked after lunch.

I've just noticed that sometimes when I click on a post from the "New Posts" list... it won't load.

But if I click on the same post from the front page... it will display.

Something in the URL or some type of script that NMCI doesn't like?

The only way I can post now is by hitting the "Quick Reply" button. I cannot start new threads, reply w/quote, or respond to PM's. I cannot vote in a poll. The WYSIWYG editor refuses to load and I cannot go into user CP and change it to something else. It's very, very frustrating at this point. :banghead:

To those who sent me PM's this morning: I AM NOT IGNORING YOU. I just can't reply. :frown:

I can't send new PM's either nor edit a post. It just keeps getting better. :cussing:

I finally got in after hitting the refresh about 20 gazillion times. NMCI keeps saying the server you are trying to contact is busy or congested, try again later. Help! I need my forum fix

I forwarded the message to David, but I doubt there's anything that we can do about this. NMCI has been a problem since they implemented it. I don't know if they have us blocked, or what the story is.

RE: above post.. these are the same problems I had one I first got my NMCI machine.. you guys did make a change on your servers and it fixed the problem..But others have problems off and on all the time. Shoot, you can just look at all the About Somd.com threads and see that something goes goofy at least once a week or so.

Anyway, David's on it and if there's something we can do on this end, we'll (he'll) do it.

I can log onto somd.com and it comes up just fine, any link from the main page(classifieds, calendar, etc. has issues) Hope this might help some

This post specifically experiences the phenomena I mentioned above...

If I go to http://forums.somd.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=1073101
from the front page, it loads just fine.

If I go to http://forums.somd.com/showthread.php?t=54846 from the new posts or computer forum, it errors out.

It also seems to hang a ton right before it posts the banner ad at the top, then it loads the page... then it hangs again at the bottom for a long time again.

I don't think it's a cached version, the date and everything else on the somd.co home page seem to be correct. If I click on any link, it either times out, or If I hit refresh at least 20 times it might load

But I can tell you all with gutwrenching certainty: NMCI effin sucks. Almost all other pages accessed via NMCI comes up with no problem, but some - including SoMD.com - comes up unbearably slow, if at all. The site doesn't load completely, responding to posts is painful, and the frustration is ticking me off.

Dang, those NMCI folks must expect me to actually do some work while I'm at the office.

My observations are that it is the waiting for the ads data to load that causes the timeout. And it's getting worse.

I was just playing around with Netscape and it won't load the forums at all. It's errors out when trying to connect to "http://ads.somd.com/adx.js" so that may be a big part of the problem.

I noticed there are certain forums I don't have any problems loading, like the personal ones, and then have a devil of a time with the "News & Current Events" one.

I couldn't get crap from here to load at work today. Click a link, go walk around the building, smoke one, come back about the time the timeout page would pop up. Any other site I went to was fine.

Jazz, BTW did you find the Netscape 7.0 under the program list?

It's working somewhat this morning. Only have to hit refresh once or twice to get a page to load. I'm getting place holders (little white boxes with red X's) under some peoples avatars for instant messanger. It's causing the thread to be offset for those using it. itsbob has both yahoo and IM where as some others only have IM so they aren't skewed so much. Is this something new? Never noticed it before.

What TC said. I can actually reply to threads now using the WYSIWYG editor rather than the 'quick reply' link and things are loading marginally faster. We'll see how long this lasts.

Late afternoon(2:00-3:30) I was able to navigate fairly easily. Most threads came up with little problem but still very slow. Posting was another matter, took me ½ hour trying to get a post up for hollowsoul. Hope something changed and it's getting better
