I am scanning pictures.
Every picture scanned is being scanned at 11 meg.
I want to post some, so how do I get them to the 100 byte limit?

BMP. I resize to JPEG, but it comes out as 156 bytes.

You can either decrease the size of the picture (width x height), decrease the resoultion (eg: 2400dpi to 1200dpi) or decrease the color count (which may not be an option on your scanner/software).

If you save as a .gif it will decrease the colors to 256, which may be ugly. I'd suggest changing the picture size or scan resoultion.

Well, jpg is much smaller than .bmp. Can you open the jpeg?

Personally, I always save as jpeg and crop to the subject in the picture to reduce the size of the file. If it's still too large, I will resize. I like turdan's advice about resolution and/or color count. I'll have to try that.
