Hold on tight: (movie review)

is to be reminded that the Iraq war is not the product of oil avarice, or CIA evil, but of a surfeit of altruism, a naive compulsion to do good. That entire collection of neo- and retro-conservatives -- George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld and particularly Paul Wolfowitz -- made war not for oil or for empire but to end the horror of Saddam Hussein and, yes, reorder the Middle East.

Richard, your life is in danger! Micheal Moore will endevor to sit on you!

The BOMB:

They were inept. They were duplicitous. They were awesomely incompetent, and, in the case of Bush, they were monumentally ignorant and incurious, but they did not give a damn for oil or empire. This is why so many liberals, myself included, originally supported the war. It engaged us emotionally. It seemed . . . well, right -- a just cause.

Go ahead, read it again, I'll wait.

Richard, take a look at those two paragraphs. Yes, you supported the war in the begining for the right reasons. I read you do it. Let us stay honest here though. You and your pals and your party shifted to the arguments of empire and illicit gain and oil. You just did, or at the very least stood around and watched those around you do it, making you, at the very best, an accessory to the filth.

Now, let us continue with this clarity: It is STILL a just cause. You are free to critisize and insult to your hearts content but that's not what you did. You tried to deligitimize the goals. You tried to make it so that it was not a just and right cause. You BETRAYED the whole enterprise. You did, yes you ####ing eh well did.

I doubt you have the slightest problem continuing to see the good in sparing, say a Tookie Williams even though you know him a murderer. Therefore you should have ZERO problem, even if every incompetence you claim of the Bush adminstration is true, which it is not, not even close, seeing that the CAUSE in Iraq is STILL just, still right. It's called PRINCIPLE.

So, folks, my beef; After listening to lies, LIES from the left, over and over about Iraq and the administration, it seems there is a recognition that it simply ain't working and this strikes me as the rats fleeing a sinking ship.

I see you Richard. I see what you've done. You can't get away with it. You done what you did.

I love all this revisionist history from Democrats. They were for the war soley because they had to be to have a chance of winning anything before the 2002 elections. The Democrats who were honest and opposed the war got creamed, and the others realized that they wanted to be in office more than they wanted to be honest. They lied to the voters and they lied to themselves, not they're trying to change history and say they were for the war before out of some noble purpose, when all they wanted to do was hide an unpopular position.
