Don't support music/musicans/bars or clubs that feature music that glorifies rape, prostitution, murder or drug dealing.
If you do, expect to associate with people that find rape, prostitution, murder and drug dealing acceptable activities and don't be suprised when these events happen.

Feel free to wake up

Artist: AP-9 f/ Killa Tay

Tied up jacked and kidnapped
My fo thugs wit no love savagely raising big straps

Witout some pussy and a bomb sack
Million Dollar contracts
Comin' and goin'
But y'all aint knowin'
Bank account swollen
Picture me rollin'
In the Escalade
High starin death in the face
Heart fulla hate
Puttin work in but aint catchin no case
I got my game tight
Cuz big homey, laced me as a young G
Hungry for my chedda cheeze
Pushin OZ's
Make a profit hoes
Gots to got my name in they mouth
They bumpin guns and smokin murda blunts
When the guns come out

But ain't no git back when the #### crack
Murda man like Al Capone
Bust him wit the big gat
Hit him high
Feel the ride
Aint givin a #### about Genocide
When this song is on
I gotta ride for mine
When the war pop off
Niggas die
Like fay days
Kill em all from the OG's to the Bebe's
When the gun blaze
Like sun rays
Doin drive by's on the run ways
Feds tryin to hunt Tay down
In every town
From Philly to Compton they investigatin

Gimme the mike and let me touch some #### 'till I love

When the lead go bust
Kickin up dust

Shakin' fakes in the month of gate
Keepin' em as I contemplate

Wanna spray P-9?
All around my neck strapped tough flee

Tryin' to #### me

For niggas that's after me
5 G's is what I need on the M-I-C
Half a that before I breathe on
Niggas like you get peed on
So speed on
And be gone
To the cut with your fleet on
Or all of your teeth gone
Missin
No description until we bust
And you didn't listen
Rollin' wit the funk I think I bust cuz im thug livin'
Never give in

But takin' the bacon wit no mistakin'
I got some killas
On the pay roll
In day low
When it's time to handle business
Never miss it

It bugs me when dumb shiat happens and you have people whining that it's not fair or the cops are targetting blacks, or that the white girl was drunk and purposely hit the kid in the road in the dark..
It also bug me when someone is killed and people say he deserved it or that he was a POS and it's no loss.. He was someones son. He was a human being and his life was valuable, even if he lived a life that some don't approve of.

QUIETCOOL2006, don't condone the violence or sit here and make excuses. You are asking for trouble coming on here biatching that "we" don't like your hang out, when the truth is, that place sucks and it is dangerous to go there because of the crowds lack of common sense and decency.

Also, I like rap music in general but agree with Aps that the songs that promote violence, and thug living is garbage.

Guess who's back (3X)

Hey young world... the world is yours
Hey young world... the world is yours
Young world young world... the world is yours
Young wo-ah-huh-huh-huh-urld

This rap here... it may cause concern it's
broad and deep... why don't you listen and learn
Love mean happiness... that once was strong
But due to society... even that's turned wrong
Times have changed... and it's cool to look bummy
and be a dumb dummy and disrespect your mummy
Have you forgotten... who put you on this Earth?
Who brought you up right... and who loved you since your birth?
Reward is a brainwashed kid goin wild
Young little girls already have a child
Bad company... hey, now you've been framed
Your parents are hurting... hurting and ashamed
You're ruining yourself... and your mommy can't cope
Hey, little kids don't follow these dopes
Here's a rule for the non cool... your life, don't drool
Don't be a fool like those that don't go to school
Get ahead... and accomplish things
You'll see the wonder and the joy life brings
Don't admire thieves... hey they don't admire you
Their time's limited, hardrocks too
So listen, be strong, scream whoopee-doo
Go for yours, cause dreams come true
And you'll make your mommy proud... so proud of you too
And this is a message... that the Ruler Rick threw
And it's true

"You know, you know what, you know what, you know what?
We like to party, like to party"
(repeat 3X)

Hey young world, the world is yours
Hey young world

"Yo peep this"

Hey Mr. Bigshot... hey, don't you look fly?
But you don't have a nickle... ohhhh, my my my
You've been fightin again and, you forgot why
Hey kid, walk straight, master your high
Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.... because you make your family cry
And all jokes aside, are you in good health?
Hey little boy... now have you really checked yourself?
You're a disgust, you know someone that I can't trust, you'd
steal mom's welfare... and you'd run and buy some dust, and
plus, a must so... bigshot you're not
Your friends are talkin and I'm hearin that your girls are what?
You didn't know? Go steal and rob
And while you're at it... go get a suit for a j-awhh-ob
You see you're actin like this urge is demandin
C'mon, wake up... have some understandin
Society's a weak excuse for a man
It's time for the brothers... rap is trying to take the stand
Believe it or not, the Lord still shines on you deep
Guides you... and he watched you as you grew, plus
past the age of... a little child, that's true
But folks your age don't act like you do, so
so be mature... and put the point to a halt
And if you're over eighteen... I wish you'd act like an adult
Don't live in a world... of hate hate hate
Pull yourself together... and get yourself straight
Men don't steal... hey, most don't borrow
And if you smoke crack... your kids'll smoke crack tomorrow
So be more mature... and kids do your chores
Make your own money... hey, be proud that's yours
You know why, cause that's a man... that's brains no spite
Stayin out of trouble... when it comes in sight
And a man never loses a fight... in God's sight
Cause righteous laws are overdue
And this is a message that the Ruler Rick threw
And it's true

"You know, you know what, you know what, you know what?
We like to party, like to party"
(repeat 3X)

Hey young world, the world is yours
Hey young world...

"Yo peep this...
MC... Ricky... D...
The Grand Wizzard...
and his partner...
and his and his and his partner...
say what?
La-Di! Da-Di! La-Di! Da-Di! (repeat 2X)
La-Di-Da-Di..."

Of course they are worried about $$$ they are a business, and they have to worry about it or go out of business..

The whole operation is based on ADULTS, you have to be over 21 to drink and partake at a bar, so you are dealing with ADULTS.. the adult customers need to suffer for their mistakes and bad decisions.. they should know when they've had enough to drink, they should know not to get into fights.

I would just like to say that in defense of the people that own and operate Monk's that I have never been in there when trouble of that kind was going on. Weds' may have become a problem just as Thursdays were before. I frequent Monk's several times a week and do not feel uncomfortable there just as I don't feel uncomfortable at St. James after what happened there. I don't believe the owners are trying to attract thugs. The music that is played is the music that young 20 somethings like to listen to these days. I have been there on rap night and they play all sorts of Hip hop music. I cannot recall hearing any music that promoted violence, rape, drugs ( other than my personal favorite " I Got High" dedicated to my ex that I play from the jukebox) I don't have any real solutions to offer. If however we start turning away people at the doors based on there color, muical preferences or dress then what will we revert to.

The problem in a nutshell is young men and women with too much attitude combined with too much liquer is a recipe for disaster no matter where you may be.

In this day and age there is potential danger in pretty much anywhere you go and anything you do. It all reverts to personal choice. If you don't like the people that frequent certain places then it is best to go elsewhere or stay home. I agree that I would not want to intentionally put myself in a place that these types of things happen. My point is that the owners have made great strides in providing a safe environment inside their establishment. What occurred here was outside the establishment across the street. Does this mean the owners have to police the streets of the surrounding neighborhood as well? Is that not what the actual police are for? In fact was there not an officer in the parking lot all ready when this incident occurred?

No not at all. I would say three times a week. Usually Monk's in the afternoon to play keno on Sunday. I went to St. Jame's for shrimp on Tuesday then we stopped at Monk's on the way home for a few games of keno. Sometimes I go to visit D at the Legion it just really depends. Why?

I wasn't pointing finger at you... There are many factors that make up the whole scenario.. If this area was more community mindedif young people didn't find the "bling bling " lifestyle so attractive. If, there were more to do in this area than get drunk four nights a week, or sell dope, or carry a gun to be cool or because you're afraid.

I'm not wrong, I've seen it first hand. I have spent a long while separating myself from it.. Your original post was trying to make a case for places like that, for the people who caused it. There's no excuse.

Why is every one blaming the artist for using violence in lyrics. That is whats demanded of them. There are tons of positive rap out there. Do you think the people who hold the power of promotion will promote that type of rap? No. Why would they? It is all about money in the end. Why should a rapper stay positive and stay broke? Violent music is entertainment and nothing more. Tom Cruise makes violent movies all the time. No one is complaining about him. Don't blame the artist. Blame the stupid person that tries to make entertainment, a reality. I am in no way condoning thugs, drug dealers or disrespect towards anyone. I am just saying. Violence is every where. The Sopranos to CSI. It is all about money. All of this is run by major corporations. Don't hate an artist for doing what he needs to do to make a better life for his family.

In trying to do what you want or what you think is right you also do many other things which you do not mean to do, your initial act is not pure, it has costs.

From Levinas:

"The comedy begins with the simplest of our movements, each of which carries with it an inevitable awkwardness. In putting out my hand to approach a chair, I have creased the sleeve of my jacket. I have scratched the floor, I have dropped the ash from my cigarette. In doing that which I wanted to do, I have done so many things I did not want. The act has not been pure, for I have left some traces. In wiping out these traces, I have left others. Sherlock Holmes will apply his science to this irreducible coarseness of each of my initiatives and thereby, the comedy may well turn tragic. When the awkwardness of the act turns against the goal pursued, we are at the height of tragedy."

So if Hip Hop was all positive, there would be no violence in the streets?

So if Hip Hop was all positive, there would be no violence in the streets? No, it's not just hip-hop as you exemplified. However, if all I'm listening to is...poppin' a cap in my wigga's crown...I might have a greater tendency to do that. Television and movies are part of the problem, I just don't see them playing in night clubs or Monk's for that matter.

There is no "rap" night on Wed. nights. It is just a club night with other music.....not just rap being played as well.However...there are all races in attendance every week..............Maybe they are all undercover rappers and want to meet at a place where they can have a comming out party. You probably think the U.S. can solve the illegal alien issues by shutting down Taco Bell too.I got love 4 u MysticalMom........but I gotta keep it real with u. :deadhorse :deadhorse

First of all it has nothing at all to do with race for me. Never has. I don't give a flying shiat if people are white, black, red purple, or blue with little pink polka dots. And frankly it pisses me off when people pull the race card. It's old already. We're talking about MUSIC that breeds violence. And you'll never make me change my mind about the fact that alot of rap breeds violence.

Ok..maybe it's not officially "rap" night...but that's 90% of what they play on Wednesday nights.
