I was reading up on candidates on the LWV site and thought this one was interesting...

Corrogan R Vaughn Republican candidate for US Senate
http://www.campaignsecrets.com/maryland/templates/displayfiles/tmpl30.asp?SiteID=179&PageID=1166&Trial=false

BACKGROUND: What education and life experiences qualify you to hold this office?
I was born on March 8, 1966, the only son of Rev. Dr. Alfred Corrogan Daniel Vaughn and Dr. Lillian Purnell Vaughn. I was educated in Baltimore Public Schools and worked at US Airways for sixteen years. I was laid off after 9-11, and closed my business to campaign fulltime. ...

ENERGY: What actions should the Federal Government take to reduce dependence on fossil fuels?
None. The Federal Government has no jurisdiction in these matters under the Constitution. Responsible exploration and drilling for oil should be allowed in the US to all who can do so. The alliance of the oil companies, banking, and the environmentalists will be shattered by this process, leading to new....

HOUSING: What role should the Federal Government play in providing affordable housing?
None. Any such regulations must come through and by the individual States. Citizens are entitled to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness; no mention was made of affordable housing. The Federal Government has no jurisdiction in these matters under the Constitution, which is quite clear where true power lies.

IMMIGRATION: What sort of immigration policy do you support?
Existing immigrations laws must be enforced. A temporary ban should be established on all immigration to U.S. for a period of 25 years. Illegal immigrants should not be rewarded for breaking the law by granting them temporary or permanent legal status (amnesty). Granting automatic citizenship to children born here....

FOREIGN POLICY: How can the U.S. best deal with international terrorism?
The primary obligation of the Federal Government is to limit its actions to those set out in the Constitution. Our borders must be closed. In addition to those solutions in Q3 response, the right to issue visas by countries known to be enemies of the US should be rescinded.

HEALTH CARE: What proposals do you support, if any, to provide a basic level of quality health care at an affordable cost to all U.S. residents?
None. Medical care is not an entitlement under the Constitution. States should regulate medical practitioners, which will remove the onerous regulations placed on them by the federal government. This will free up medical resources for actually treating patients. The medical community should enforce its own codes, and if they don't,....

EDUCATION: The No Child Left Behind Act comes up for reauthorization in 2007. What changes do you think are needed that will help the Act's intended beneficiaries: low-income and minority students?
The act should not be reauthorized. Parents are the best arbiters of their children's needs and should be encouraged by their local school system to actively participate in the education of their children. The Department of Education should be closed down, personnel placed on job lists by seniority....Strict Constitutionalist...looks like the candidate for 2A. I might vote for him as well, but I don't like his isolationist view.

but most Marylanders still want the government to run their lives for them and thus pay high taxes. I would vote for him too...but our brother Marylanders failed civics class.

I'm sure Steele will win the primary, but I'd like to encourage candidates like Vaughn to run.

That author sure did their HW!
It is a position that is NOT being seriously examined by todays sound-bite media. If he is right (and I hope he is...) there will be lightning striking randomly in Dem HQ this November.

An excellent find!

My kind of guy. I don't see closing and protecting our borders as isolationist.
