Anjem Choudary said those who insulted Islam would be "subject to capital punishment".


Choudary's appeal for the death of Pope Benedict was the second time he has been linked with apparent incitement to murder within a year.


As well as placards attacking the Pope such as "Pope go to Hell", his followers outside the country's principal Roman Catholic church also waved slogans aimed at offending the sentiments of Christians such as "Jesus is the slave of Allah".


A Scotland Yard spokesman said of his comments: "We have had no complaints about this. There were around 100 people at the demonstration. It passed off peacefully and there were no arrests."

So, historical comments are insults, those who insult Islam must die, insulting other relgions is OK and people are not complaining. Perhaps for fear a complaint may be interpreted as an insult?

Actually, what is so wrong about this whole subject is that the Muslims are threatening the leader of the Catholic Church, one of the largest churches in the world and you don't see Catholics burning Allah figures and saying that all Muslims must die. I would certainly hope that if the Muslims harmed the Pope, that all Christians around the World ( and Jews, Buddist, etc) would stand united against the Muslims and DO SOMETHING ABOUT THESE F'in SOBs.

Well, it was a good idea anyway. I think they are pretty stupid, but I don't think they would go because they are too afraid. Most libbies would cry at the sound of an explosion or being denied a "freedom" while visiting the middle east.

Congressman Kuchenich(sp?) says Pres. Bush must engage in talks/negotiations with this nutjob Iranian leader.

He said Bush has to ensure them that the US will never militarily attack Iran, no matter what.

...as to where we lay blame. We think in terms of things like the Muslim 'street' and clerics publicly denouncing this, mobs burning that and peons like Usama in some cave somewhere and a street level hit man like Zarqawi.

They can kill, they can rabble rouse, they do count, but for how much? Let us not forget that even though some of them are operating and exist as, essentially, lone wolves outside of national control, they come from, have ties to and only exist due to the good graces of the nation states that spawned them.

These places are dictatorial in nature, police states. There are no street demonstrations, no denunciations and no mad dog killers unless they allow it.

The real people with real power are quite pleased when anything, Iraq, the Pope, the Taliban, keep attention off of them.

Where are the governments of Syria, Saudi and Jordan on the great issues of the day? Staying out of the limelight. Trying to maintain control.
