I need a free DVD decoder to run on WIN 2000.

DVD player specs:

TSSTcorp
CDRW/DVD TSH492B



Somebody hook me up!

Hmmmmmm...Isn't there a plug-in with Divx? Or can you upgrade to a later Windows Media Player?

uh, its a work machine i'm not technically supposed to have admin rights to. i dont want to go upgraded stuff.

the least intrusive the better :yay:

I use InterVideo. I know HP offered it at one point as a download for laptops. I'm not sure if it checks for HP hardware though.

i had an intervideo install of my matrix dvd. that installed. but it still gave me the same error with not having a DVD decoder.

is a decoder like a driver? or a player software?

You'll need administrative rights because a DVD decoder is technically a driver. It'll also have to be imported to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE section of the registry, also requiring administrative rights.

Sorry, didn't read into the whole thing. VLC Media Player will play DVDs and any form of video on Windows 2000. It's a freebie! I swear by VLC.
