No, he's not.
I read something about this a few months ago, in fact, and he's taken it as a personal insult that his loyal legions didn't follow him into the satellite world.
I think, rather, Stern overestimated his audience - not in their loyalty, but in their willingness to part with the subscription fee. Perhaps Stern believes his audience to be 30 and 40-something sophisticated professionals who start their busy go-go day in DC or New York or Chicago by listening to his show.
I have no doubts that a small portion of his audience fits that description, but unfortunately for Stern, I think the vast majority of his audience consists of college students giving each other high-fives when he gets a couple of big-hootered bimbos to kiss each other on the air. Or trailer dwelling bubbas who have their beach-towels laid out on the living room floor so they can rub themselves while Stern talks dirty to fashion models.
These people are typically unwilling or unable to sacrifice their beer money for Howard Stern.

I listened to Stern about 26 years ago, but actually listened to Greaseman more. Then I moved on to Don and Mike. I haven't had much loyalty in channel or djs for 20 years. Switch the channel to catch whatever music I'm in the mood for or conversation I want to listen to at the time. If I'm driving over 30 minutes chances are I'm listening to a CD, not the radio.

...Stern's show is no more than a prurient interest to the vast majority of his 'audience'. In today's tech world, there is no excuse for having over the line shows on TV or radio; you can get whatever you want if you simply pay for it and there is NO argument to be made about free speech to protect entertainment speech; at least not until Stern and others are doing their shows...for FREE.

I have Sirius too, but havn't listened to Stern in 15 years or more. It's nice that Sirius is offering it for free, but the only way to get me to listen to his 20 year old schtick of picking on minorities, the mentally retarded, embarrassing anyone that crosses him for any reason while promoting strippers, the nieve and the stupid, they'd have to pay me a considerable amount.

That's just it, they paid Stern HUGE money because they thought HE would bring in listeners by the millions.. put XM out of business..
Now they've paid him HUGE money and he's not bringing in the subscribers to make it to a break even point.. SIRIUS as a whole is improving, and getting more(as is XM), but not many are saying Stern was the reason for their switch..

Ralphs purpose is to push the button and make all the sound effect... He works that board.
Oh and I heard parts of Garys Roast... Man that was good stuff...
The show is funny as hell, but I turn it off when Howard goes into his News and political rants... He's a huge liberal, he's right and everyone else is wrong. I got pissed about his rant, when that yankees pitcher crashed his plane. god forbid people cant have dangerous hobbies if howard is around....
Shut your mouth Howard and stick to my favorite fart jokes....
