I need someone who is using one of those "broadband" cards for their laptop to do a bandwith speed test for me, I'm trying to decide if I should just call metrocast to have internet installed at the house or just go with one of those "broadband" thingy's
It would also be a plus if you were using verison (even though i hate verison)
TIA

true..but if they were to have a "full signal" and then do a speed test....it would let me know a ballpark figure

I'll try to remember to do a speed test tonight. I've been wanting to see how my speed is anyway. Got a good site for bandwidth speed checks?
BTW, I don't have a card. I'm using a XV6700 phone that I tether to my laptop/desktop. Also, I tend to only get 1 bar, so it should be a good guage for low-end speed.

I'm using a Verizon Wireless Card. I am getting 93% Signal Strength
I just ran my test on Broadband Reports Page
http://www.broadbandreports.com/stest?loc=2
Download Speed: 1000 / 103 (Kbps)
Upload Speed: (122.1 / 12.6 KB/sec)
Hope this helps.

I understand completely. In Waldorf, we had Cable InterNet. Unfortunately, I can't get DSL or Cable out here in Clements. Dialup is just a pain! The only other option was Satellite (setup costs just toooo expensive) and SOMDWireless (http://www.somdwireless.com). The problem with SOMDWireless was getting a signal to reach me. So, Verizon was the only game in town.

Question:
When I use her phone (the 6700) and I go to internet explorer it dials out *777, is that the right way to get to the internet? it seems awful slow unless we can connect to a wireless network somewhere.

That's the way I connect (even when tethering). Does the phone show "EV" while you are connected?
