Okada the Sushi, Sashimi is definitely better.

But I think the Teppenyaki is better at ASAHI.

I like both. I think Okadas Fried Rice is better

I've only been to Okada once and the table and dishes were so greasy we asked to have it cleaned and the bus person came out to clean our table again and used the same greasy dirty rag. It didn't do any good, the rag looked like it had ben used for weeks with out washing it. :barf:

I prefer Asahi, I've never noticed a problem with cleanliness there

They're pretty much the same. I prefer Okada, even though the last two times I went Kris was there.

They are both good. Like Bob said, we like Asahi's teppanyaki better, but like Okada for their sushi/shashimi.

Thanks for the input, everyone! We went to Okada, and really enjoyed it. Wow, the cook puts on quite a show! We ordered chicken and shrimp (me), filet and lobster, and filet...YUMMY!!! (and I couldn't catch the piece of shrimp!)

I like Okada because of the specials.....but service at Asahi blows Okada out of the water....

I'm surprised by some of the comments. Everytime lately I have gone to Asahi the tables have been dirty, the grill's look nasty, the food has just been okay and the table cooks never put on a show anymore. They won't give you chopsticks without asking for them and more little issues that weren't there when they first opened. The last time I was in there was leak of some kind near our table and the grill had a filthy rag tied up around something at the top. :barf:

When I go to Okada, there is always a show, the place is very clean and the servers go out of their way to be accomodating and the food has been excellent.

Asahi isn't on my list of places to eat anymore when I have a choice.

Okada gives the better show and has the better soup/salad.

Asahi has the better yum yum sauce.

:lmao: Stalker!

Why is it every time I go to Okada or Ashai I run in to a forumite?

Did we share a table too? You should say hello next time, even if I am scrounging up coins because my baby likes to throw them in the waterfall.

Considering the last week I had, I don't remember. Wait... were you the one who only ordered sushi while the rest of your family ate the meal?

MMdad saw me with my mother and my son... and he was there with his family... I actually had a mini conversation with his wife, and I believe I made small talk with him too.

My hours are until at least 12:30 every day, so I'm not sure we'll be doing lunches anymore.

THIS. I know this is a fairly old thread, but I'd just like to add that I worked there for a while. Sucks if you work there, but that's beside the point. Generally good service, and I've seen the place front-to-back, inside-and-out. Very clean. Well, except back by the dumpster, but what can you expect there?

Oh wow, I went and did all that and never said where it was

I was a hostess at Asahi.

Tangent: Okada's yum yum sauce is watery.

Unfortunately I couldn't get the recipe for Asahi's sauce while I was working there. They act like you need a security clearance for it, I don't even know who made it.

I think the salad dressing at okada is better but overall I like asahis...I've never puked after eating asahis I have after eating okada so that might have something to do with it

Yeah, I always figured the base was something like that, but I can't figure out for the life of me what they spice it with.

Mayonnaise, butter and sugar are a few ingredients I believe. Not sure what else. :ohwell:

Here you go:

1-1/4 cup Hellmann's mayonnaise *
1/4 cup water
1 teaspoon tomato paste
1 tablespoon melted butter
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon paprika
dash cayenne pepper

Using a fork or a whisk, blend all ingredients together thoroughly until well mixed and the sauce is smooth. Refrigerate overnight to allow flavors to blend. Bring to room temperature before serving.

The sauce will NOT taste right if you don't let it sit overnight. And please don't try to substitute ketchup for the tomato paste! The water is needed to bring this to the right consistency.

* Hellmann's is called "Best Foods" west of the Rockie Mountains. Use other mayos at your peril - many cheap brands make the sauce taste too much like mayo.

Also says NOT to use any low fat/fat free mayo as the results will not be the same.
