For the good of the nation, let's hope this policy sticks...

The leader of Barack Obama's transition team has delivered some bad news to the hordes of lobbyists plying their trade in the fancy restaurants and faceless offices along Pennsylvania Avenue: they are not welcome.

John Podesta, the transition chief, has revealed a set of draconian new regulations aimed at curbing the excessive influence of lobbyists, as Mr Obama promised throughout his election campaign. They are to be denied their normal role of greasing the wheels of the new administration's costly transition to power by paying for office space and staff between now and the inauguration on 20 January.

Mr Podesta unveiled what he said was "the strictest, the most far-reaching ethics rules of any transition team in history," and declared "that the undue influence of Washington lobbyists and the revolving door of Washington ceases to exist."

So Obama is going to list people who give money for his transition when he didnt list people who gave to his election campaign.??

This is all shine. Its all propaganda.

{Mr Obama is planning to fund the rest by asking the more than 3 million people who poured small amounts of money into his campaign to make up the rest. }

How many times does he think he can go to that well.??

I think it is an impressive move.:yay: Obama on this issue is walking the walk and not just talking the talk.

I don't have to agree with his idiology to recognize him doing something right.

If the man does anything good like this, I'll commend him. Until then, he's a lying, racist, America hating terrorist (he'll still be all those things regardless).

If he hates whites then he hates his mother, his grandmother and his grandfather. Oh and his classmates because he did go to Harvard. Wow, What if his wife were white.....Would he still be racist? Just because you cannot readily see his 'whiteness' because of the color of his skin makes him a racist? However, you fail to see that because your eyes are so red with Anger. American believes that he is the man for the job, regardless of who he is associated with.

Who has that signature about judging a person by their actions, not their words?

So much for change!

Telecom policy circles are a buzz with the news of Barack Obama's pick to head the Federal Communications Commission transition team (http://www.multichannel.com/article/CA6612005.html?nid=4262). Obama is reported to have chosen lawyer and DC insider Henry Rivera, a former Democratic FCC commissioner, lobbyist, and currently a partner at communications law firm Wiley Rein (http://www.wileyrein.com/index.cfm).

Rivera is not currently registered as a lobbyist, but according to the Center for Responsive Politics (http://www.opensecrets.org/lobby/lobbyist.php?lname=Rivera%2C+Henry+M&year=2001), he lobbied for the Catholic Television Network in 2001. In his capacity as a lawyer, he has represented (http://www.wileyrein.com/directory.cfm?attorney_id=1083) major wireless carriers, a local exchange carrier, and a major airline in FCC-related matters.

Rivera's law firm is also the former home of Kevin Martin, the current FCC chairman, and is arguably one of the schmooziest lobbyist telecom legal firms in Washington. It employs several former FCC commissioners as well as a significant number of former FCC employees. Of course, Rivera and the other lawyers at Wiley Rein are not the only people at the FCC to leave government for high-paying lobbyist gigs--the practice is widespread.

According to the Center for Responsive Politics (http://www.capitaleye.org/inside.asp?ID=242), more than 100 former FCC employees have also worked in the private sector. At least 50 percent of them have lobbied on issues related to telecom, communications, and broadcast at some point in their careers. In fact, the FCC is the agency with the third-highest number of employees who have shuffled between the public and private interests focused on the federal government, behind only the White House and the House of Representatives.

If he hates whites then he hates his mother, his grandmother and his grandfather.

That's pretty much what he said in one of his his books.
That's pretty much the philosphy of the church he supported for 20 years.

What would lead you believe it's not true?

What, are you claiming, is he lying about? That he will accurately list the "small donors only" who will provide everything over the $5,200,000 that you and I are paying for his transition.

He couldn't/wouldn't provide accurate, honest information about his campaign funding (even though transparency was one of his campaign promises), so why would one think that he will be any different now?

What, are you claiming, is he lying about?

He said he would drive the lobbyists out of Washington.

Well, I guess all but this one:
