I couldn't resist. Went to the early showing today. Loved it! Need someone to talk to about it. Once you see it, post please.

Only thing that really bothered me was how short the fight scene was. I knew that it was probably going to be short anyway but it didn't even last 5 minutes!

Definitely left it open for a sequel. Made it sound as though Jake has already gone through the change. And that's all the spoilers I'm doing for now.

I saw it yesterday. I've read all the books. I liked the movie - but the whole time I was comparing it to the book so it was hard to really enjoy it. They changed a lot of things from the book - which is expected since the book is pretty long. Some scenes were pretty funny - especially the part where Edward first smells Bella. His reaction wasn't as obvious in the book - but I guess they needed to make it apparent in the movie so people who haven't read the book would understand.

They did give the green light for New Moon - and since Twilight made $70.5M this weekend I don't see why they wouldn't make Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. It should be interesting to see how they will adapt Breaking Dawn.

My kiddo has read all but the last half of the 4th book. We saw it Saturday and I thought it was really good. She said only a few things were different. So I'd say the movie was worth seeing. The movie wasn'tvery exciting, but it wasn't graphic either.

I was more excited by the Harry Potter preview.. The Half Blood Prince is coming soon:yahoo:

Edward looked like he was going to :barf:

They have to make another one. Bella and Edward assume Victoria has disappeared but the she was watching them at the prom. It definitely left the door wide open for a sequel. :yay:

It's always hard watching a movie if you've read the book first. There is so much detail in the narrative that can't be translated onto the screen. I went this weekend with my daughter. We've both been waiting months and months for this. I enjoyed myself very much, and they stuck to the book closer than most any other movie I've seen based on a book. Yes, there were MANY teen-angsty looks between Bella and Edward, but it is a YA book. We can't wait for the next installment. Now I have to find Twilight things for my daughter's Christmas stocking. Why can't we have the huge merchandise blitz for Twilight that we have for Hannah Montana and HSM?

I finished the book yesterday. I'll probably wait until it comes out on CD. I've heard ok reviews for the movie. I agree, I've never seen a movie really stick completely to the book, it's so hard to put the characters thoughts on screen, and book are usually largely the characters thoughts.

I'm starting on book two now. I was very surprised the books were as good as they are since they are geared toward the young teen girl. Very well written!

Yeah - I really liked the preview for Harry Potter. I'm pretty excited about it. I will have to say that the Harry Potter movies stayed pretty true to the books except for the last movie. I wasn't all that happy with the last one. They changed a lot from the book and the graphics were pretty lame.

What I'm wondering is how they are going to do it though? Since the series focuses mainly on Edward and Bella, are they going to still do the Edward leaving at the beginning of New Moon and build the Jake/Bella relationship? Or, do they combine New Moon and Eclipse into one movie?

Personally, I don't think that New Moon would be able to stand on it's own as a movie even though I really enjoy the relationship between Jake and Bella.

I've had the book on hold at the library for almost two weeks, but I'm still the 13th in line. :ohwell:

I think they should stick with the books the way they are. Leaving that part out would be like leaving Serious Black out of Harry Potter. The sideline characters help carry the story and make it interesting. Why both to put Jacob in the film at all if they weren't going to build on his character. You can't have a good movie with out the extras.

I finally get to see it tomorrow!

Since the series focuses mainly on Edward and Bella, are they going to still do the Edward leaving at the beginning of New Moon and build the Jake/Bella relationship? I would think so, considering that's what the whole book is about. Bella and Edward's relationship evolves as a direct result of his leaving her, I don't see how that could be omitted from the overall storyline. And I think the series is just as much about Bella and Jacob as it is about Bella and Edward. He (Jacob) is a very important character.

I don't know about that...there was a guy in the popcorn line that struck up a conversation with me and it was his 2nd time seeing the movie (by himself).

I didn't say that guys wouldn't like it. My 22 year old brother saw it and liked it - he read the book too. But it is not a "guy movie".

Check out the Hot Topic store in Annapolis Mall. They have t-shirts & things. Both my daughters are fans (19 & 25) along with several people in a grad class I'm taking who got into the books via their daughters. :coffee:

Jacob is the long haired Quileute kid who is a friend of Bella's.

Just went on a second date with a girl that wanted to see it. So I was pretty muched dragged. (You know, you do what you must when trying to grease the skids with a new g/f). Anyway... I actually liked it alot and I'm an old guy I guess. Is 37 old? It's got some cool parts, some funny parts, and a little action. All in all it was a great time... and I didn't even pull the ole "popcorn suprise"

Do vampires actually play baseball in uniforms in this movie?

I honestly can't imagine anything that stupid, so I'm assuming it's a joke.

but everyone seems to be bringing it up ....

stupid movie! Now I'm looking for the books. I'm not supposed to like these kinds of movies, but it was so well made and the story was intriguing, I went out and bought the stupid thing. I hope they make a sequal too.

I thought The Lost Boys was much better.

I am also a Lost Boys fan (I still wait for Keiffer Sunderland in 24 to turn into a vamp) but the movie Twilight wasnt anything like the movie Lost Boys. My 12 year old has read all the twilight series and he saw this movie and hated it. I thought it was actually good. I think the way they left the end of this story with "Victoria" standing in the window and the possibility of the Indian/werewolves in the furtue very interesting. I am also into the Sookie Sackhouse Novels by Charlaine Harris if you like ongoing stories - they are worth the read.

I was a little disappointed in the movie, too and I love the Twilight books. However, I then remembered that I wasn't that thrilled with the book "Twilight" either. I think it is much slower than the subsequent books. Once the history and backstory are built in "Twilight", the story and action moves much faster after that. I can't wait for the next movie!

The books are way better than the movies, however... if you can get in to the exquisitely tortured soul of Edward and reconcile it with the utter goodness that is Bella, and see that these two are a modern day Romeo and Juliet, the whole thing takes on a new life.

... and short of some seriously messed up people who believe in the actual existance of bloodsucking vampires, how often is a vampire movie realistic?

I meant realistic in the realms of vamps.

Vampire baseball.:lmao:

A Vamp more entranced in the puppy love for a human mortal than for his bloodsucking carnal needs. Right...

Seems like a film for those who just got out of the Harry Potter phase.
