Vrai... please please please... can we have the karma back?
Back in the days of karma... idiots and morons wore red bands and intelligent people with a educated perspective wore green bands....
Karma helped us keep the bullies, morons, and idiots in their place...
Karma kept the threads from being knotted by ignorant morons who insult rather than contribute...
It was a nicer place... back when there was karma...
Please Pretty Please can we have the karma back?

When there was karma... and a bully came after you... is was obvious... but the thread continued... you could read the green and respond... or read the red and refute... but debate was very possible....
Now it not as easy... bull reads the same as truth... good people will leave with a sour taste in their mouths....
Now... it's intrusive...
There were a few people with red karma that I agreed with from time to time... There were a few people with green karma that IMO should have been red... But it added to the conversation.... it made the thread continue in substance....
Now... ignorance abounds turning some good threads into knotted threads...

I remember past Christmas mornings, when I jumped out of bed, ran down the stairs in anticipation, threw open the den doors and screeched with joy as I checked my karma.
And how generous all of you were. All the green and red that filled my head and took over my day. The holiday magic is just gone without it.
Dear Santa Vrai,
I think we've been as good as we can be. Please give us the magic back.

I wasn't posting during the karma days, so I'm not sure how that whole thing played out. But, it doesn't seem like it should matter what everyone else thought of a particular poster. You should make up your own mind about other posters and that's all that should matter - you don't need others to affirm that you're right about it.
And if they're 'bullies', or you consider them to be some form of 'idiot', then you shouldn't care what they post. Their posting only has the ability to affect you to the extent that you let it.
And by the way, as far as 'ignorance abounding' goes - that dynamic is intrinsic in human congregation. There's no real way of changing that. If there were, we could address a lot more important problems than the rapport realized in an internet forum.

At least now people are free to discuss or not discuss the issues and not hide behind anonymous karma attacks on each other. Just because you don't like someone doesn't mean you can't appreciate their opinion or point of view. If you want to do it in private then why don't you just pm the person? Now if I had a lot of red karma then did anything happen, like I'm froze from the forums or something? I don't see what the fuss is all about.

Ok, so I still don't understand, there is really no point to karma. If you have something to say to someone why can't you just say it (good or bad)? If you want to do it in private then why don't you just pm the person?Ideally they would. But so many asshats began sending crap just to harass others, and usually not signing it, it became a hassle.
Now if I had a lot of red karma then did anything happen, like I'm froze from the forums or something? I don't see what the fuss is all about.No. Nothing happened. It didn't make you look better or your breath smell fresher or put more money in your bank account. Many people had maxed out their green so their points could go no higher but they could still receive comments. And then there were those who hit the bottom of the tank... Being red usually didn't stop them either.

so really the fuss is all over nothing...Remember when you were in kindergarten and your teacher would put shiny stars and smiley faces on your work to make you feel good, even though it had nothing to do with your grade? Karma is the equivalent of that - only for adults.

Yep...some people took Karma personally, I don't think it caused any suicides though, perhaps a few attempts, but no one died.

That's probably the best description. And if you were a kiss ass kid, you got lots of stars.
