Restaurants always have such great ranch dressing, but I haven't ever been able to find anything similar in stores. The store-bought stuff is always too thick and not as light tasting. And by light, I don't mean fat content. I mean the store-bought stuff is just so heavily flavored. Does that make sense? :ohwell: I just want a nice, light, restaurant style ranch. Any ideas?

Make it yourself with the HVR mix and buttermilk - it is SOOOOOO!!!! much better than the bottled stuff.

Darn it. I almost bought that yesterday, but I bought the Ken's stuff or something.

I had some Thousand Island dressing at a high-end restaurant one day, and it was da bomb. I finally figured out they were just adding some oregano. I now add oregano to mine and it tastes the same as theirs.

They may just be adding some "special ingredient" to their own Ranch.

Try Wishbone lite done rite brand. That seems to match many resturant brands, especially those that use Manes for their distributor.

I water mine down with...WATER!

Not as strong and goes a lot further.

The Food Lion brand is good, but it works with any bottled brands. I buy what's on sale or the cheapest.

The make it yourself is best. See Vrai's posting...the kind I used to use was Good Seasonings...not sure what HVR is.

I also water mine down, but it's still not the same. I'll try the HVR, and maybe the Wishbone as someone else suggested.
