I had one of those Special K2O protein waters today for the 1st time. It did take the edge off my hunger like it says and the taste was really good but MY GOD its making me have to pee. A LOT! It just hits me and I feel like I really have to go, RIGHT NOW and frequently. Anyone else drink this stuff? Is it supposed to do that?

Regardless of what else is in it; vitamins, etc., it's water.
Water, being a diuretic will do that. I don't think I have to tell anybody
water just makes ya go. It flushes out all the impurities. That Special K2O crap might have MSM in it in some miniscule amount.
MSM is a type of diuretic/blood detoxifier.

DKP covered it, basically
What are the ingredients? I'd bet there is at least one duretic (sp?) in it :yay: Caffeine is a big one, if that's in it...not sure what else really.

warnuts will know better than I would
I'm going out on a limb and going to say that plain old water is a better way to quench hunger than that stuff, though :yay:

Wow,

First of all, check the facts...

Water is NOT a diuretic. (Unless you're trying to lose retained water by drinking more water, then in theory, I guess you could call it that. But, I don't think water is "scientifically" referred to as a diuretic)

A diuretic REMOVES WATER from the system. (Something in the drink is causing the frequent trips to the bathroom)

There's natural sources (asparagus - my favorite, dandelion, ginger, etc...)
There's the over-the-counter pills (XPel, Hydrazide, etc...)

I drink water all day long, and trust me, water does NOT quench your appetite. The original poster, kelb, probably doesn't drink a lot of water to begin with, hence the "frequent urination". I will tell you that I tried the powdered Special K Protein Mix that you mix with a standard 12-oz water bottle, and I'm not running to the bathroom. I WILL attest to the fact that the Special K Protein Water DOES curb your appetite. I drink a bottle for breakfast, with coffee (no breakfast), and I'm not hungry until lunch, and even then, I'm not starving.

I haven't tried the ready-made version, maybe that's the difference :don'tknow:

A rule of thumb - you know you're drinking enough water if your urine is clear. Water is good to flush out toxins you ingest during the day.

I guess it depends on how exact or general of a term you wanna use it...

In a way it is, in another way it's not...

In comparison to pills and certain foods, it's not... (at least not to that extreme)

Exactly. I looked at a chart on Wiki (great source :killingme), and it didn't even have water/ethanol in a category (like, loop diuretic)...just listed them as diuretics

Hey Kelb - not that I'm a medical expert, but somewhere in your thread you mentioned "asparagus", I believe........

Keep drinking water - if your urine is "highlighter yellow with a hint of bright green" I would definately increase H2O intake from 1 glass a day to 3-4 glasses a day, and work up to about 6-ish. The doctors are saying now that anything more than 8 glasses of water could be bad for you. (sheesh).

I basically go by the rule of thumb - if your urine is clear you're drinking enough water.

zNote: << Lay off the Mountain Dew ! >>

good luck,
