I can't find what we are looking for- maybe you all can help?

- 250ish people
- live music
- water oriented
- prefer hotel on site but willing to do shuttle service if reasonable distance

Cambridge Hyatt (http://chesapeakebay.hyatt.com/hyatt/hotels/index.jsp)? I've been to a few weddings there that were nice

Stoney's (http://www.stoneysbroomesisland.com/) has a nice place over on Broomes Island but no hotels for miles and miles. Trying to keep the shuttle under 20 minutes round trip from venue to hotels.

Bay Beach Club (http://www.baybeachclub.com) - I use to go there by boat often like 10 years ago. Wedding factory and thugs- nothing makes a bride feel special like 4 other weddings going on and some inked up dudes with jorts in the parking lot

Chesapeake Beach Resort (http://www.chesapeakebeachresortspa.com/weddings_main.html)- any feedback on this place?

I wanted St.Ignatius Church at Chapel Point for our personal connections but they don't allow outdoor receptions anymore.

We catered an awesome wedding last summer on the waterfront at St. Mary's College. Incredible pictures!

It is not water oriented but,The JT Daugherty center in Lex Park(Across from Gate 1, PAX) I only had my reception there but it was everything I dreamed it would be and more!!! The people were so helpful, courteous and professional. The price was not too terribly high. For $39 pp. It includes a sit down dinner of Filet mignon AND chicken with all the sides. Passed ordorves(not sure about spelling, lol) That also includes drinks(non-alcoholic). The sit down part was so classy, plus it saved sooo much time. They also gave us(bride and groom) Complimentary Lobster tail and more!! So If class and elegence are what you want check this place out, not sure if she is still there, but ask for Dorothy!! Check out the website too for pics. Plus there is a Hotel in the same parking lot, we and alot of our guests stayed there for a group rate.

Holiday Inn Solomons is a nice place. They have several rooms for use. I've been to a couple of weddings there.

I used to D.J. a ton of weddings. I think someone mentioned Old Breton Inn earlier - they always did an exceptional job hosting weddings. I'm not sure they could comfortably handle a party of 250, though. It seems that 200 was about their limit.

The Officer's Club on base also provided consistent, exceptional service for weddings. There's probably a better chance that they can accommodate 250, but that might be pushing their limit also. They've got a decent view of the water out of a bank of windows.

I'd agree that they did a good job also. But, one thing to consider with them - make sure you understand the time constraints of the room you are using, and that they provide sufficient flexibility.

When I was playing there, they tended to be very strict about the time when the event had to finish and everyone had to be cleared out. I recall a couple of times when an event I was playing there got cut short, shorter even than the time I was scheduled to play for, and the people having the event were surprised by it. Not criticizing them, just letting you know that you should make sure of what you can expect ahead of time.

I believe the main dining area of Old Breton Inn accomodates 160 max, but you can get them to set up on of their tents and have it outside on the hillside. Ceremony at the gazebo; party just steps away.

I did a couple there like that - and you're right, that's a good option if they're interested in doing it outside.

I had my wedding at the Olde Breton Inn...

We had 120 guests, and even with that the inside dining area was PACKED. I think if the original poster is looking at 250 guests, the only way they'll be able to use Olde Breton is if they rent the tent and do it outside.

That said, I highly recommend the site both for the location and the wonderful catering.

Thanks for the info and keep it coming!

I checked in to the places meantioned already and they didn't work for various reasons. I wanted to make sure I was not missing any place.

St. Micheals has some really nice places but trying to keep it under a certain price point and doesn't look like that is going to happen over there. Meantion wedding and the price on average things goes up 10 fold.

I checked in to the Odyssey boat (http://http://www.odysseywedding.com/dc/index.cfm) but capacity was an issue.

Old Ebbit Grill in DC is nice but was trying to stay in SOMD and the outside is going to be under renovation for quite some time they told me.

Thanks again!

My husband and I got married at Herrington Harbor in June. We were married right on the water on their bridal lawn and it was absolutely gorgeous. They have rooms available on site as well. I highly recommend them.

Welcome to Herrington on the Bay Catering (http://www.herringtononthebay.com/)

Congrats! I've thought about there as well- been to a few there and was hoping there was a hidden gem out there I didn't know about.

Her parents wanted to keep it in the $50's but we are in the $65ish range for the places we like so may cut a deal with them and elope... I am thinking Jamacia!

We did our honeymoon in Jamaica at the Sandals Royal Caribbean and I would give anything to go back. It was the best week of our lives. That was the most relaxed I have been in a very long time. They have several little spots where they perform small very personal ceremonies. The people there were so nice and accomodating. My husband and I got there earlier than the scheduled check in and our room was not ready. They bumped us up to the honeymoon suites free of charge complete with 24 hour room service. It is all inclusive and my husband and I took full advantage of the bar. I highly recommend the hummingbird. Here is where I spent the whole week sitting on the beach....

PS- The gazebo in the picture is one of the wedding ceremony spots.
PPS- Watch for big falling nuts if you sit under the trees on the beach. They hurt. Alot.

2 years ago 40 of us went to Jamacia Sandals Negril for 10 days for my friends wedding. EXACTLY what we wanted to do but her parents said no to that idea since too many wouldn't be able to afford to go.

Thats one reason why we decided to get married here instead of having a destination wedding. We have alot of family that wanted to attend, but because of expenses or health issues, they would not have been able to go. I don't know if you have decided against herrington, but I have to say that they were extremely nice and professional. Everything went well with them. It was my DJ that really screwed up the wedding, but herrington had no control over that. If you contact them, talk to Stacy Hill. She is the lady that worked with us and organized everything.

Besides, do you really want family around during your honeymoon? It might work for some people, but that's not my idea of the perfect honeymoon...

(I'm a Wedding Photographer... and out of all of the "water locations" that I've shot at these are what I recommend....

Marys Hope on Church Cove (a favorite)
Herrington on the Bay
Idyllic on the Wicomico
Chesapeake Beach Resort & Spa (very nice!!! The ceremony is held out on the beach/pier and the reception is held right inside.
Celebrations at the Bay
Historic Kent Manor Inn (Another big fav)
Harbourtowne

good luck!!!

I bartended the banquets-receptions-special functions quite a few years ago before and while the hotel was first being built. I have had the pleaseure of attending a couple of Weddings since then and found it absolutely georgious. Also got to be involved due to my better half dj'ing a couple events there. They have the ceremony on the beach, and from there the reception is in the banquet room.
