Has anyone ever made diet soda cake before? I thought that it sounded ridiculous at first, but so many other people have claimed to have success with it.

Yesterday I decided to make a dessert for a party that my friend and I (who are both following Weight Watchers) attended. I bought a Duncan Hines reduced sugar, chocolate cake mix and substituted the oil, eggs, and water for 12 ounces (a cup and a half) of A&W Diet Root Beer. It actually came out very moist, almost like brownies. I had a few of my guy friends try it (who all despise diet foods) and when I told them what I made it with, they were very surprised. I read online that for lighter cake mixes such as vanilla, you'd use diet 7-Up, Sprite, etc.

I've had a dessert with Mountain Dew in it before. DELICIOUS!! Probably close to the same thing you made.
