"This is a day you are to commemorate; for the generations to come you shall celebrate it as a festival to the LORD -a lasting ordinance. For seven days you are to eat bread made without yeast. On the first day remove the yeast from your houses, for whoever eats anything with yeast in it from the first day through the seventh must be cut off from Israel. On the first day hold a sacred assembly, and another one on the seventh day. Do no work at all on these days, except to prepare food for everyone to eat—that is all you may do. "

Socki, Cowgirl was sharing her experience. She is the s/o of the father of the children in the house. She and their father may have beliefs and teachings that differ from what they get when they are at their mother's.

It's like - if your kids were to have set rules at your house and then go to their dad's and have the freedom to do whatever they want - it's pretty conflicting and very confusing to the kids. In Cowgirl's case, the kids are learning things that she and their father may not agree are necessary for them to know at their age.

Yes, you are right. It's a tricky situation. While their father and I don't agree with everything their mother does (like letting the 5 yr old watch Twilight), most things are fairly minor. It's not worth a big battle, because it'll just cause more problems. We sure don't want her telling us how to raise them, so D doesn't tell her how to raise them. They agree on the major stuff, which is great.

This is what you were incorrect about.

Visitiation is a hell of a lot different than spending 50% of the time in another home with different parents and different rules/beliefs.

I used to let my kiddo go to a Pentacostal church with her bus driver.. I thought it would be a good thing to at least expose her to what it's like to go to church but when she only learned songs about fear and "the devil", I nipped it in the bud.

Then she wanted to see The Passion of the Christ when she was about 7 or 8 and I agreed. Once it got so bad I was bawling, it got turned off. I think she got the gist of the film though and since then she's shown no interest in going back to church.

My son just believes what he believes and has never asked questions about church because he's never been in one.

I can't think of anything more unappealing about religion than their watered down teachings to children of many men killing men in the name of some "god". You can make it a cartoon or put it in a song, but that just makes it more frightening.

I'm not religious either, but my boys still go to a catholic sunday school. When they come home with questions about stuff that doesn't make sense -I'm very honest with them about what religion is for and we try to find other answers besides the ones they just get at Sunday school or at their fathers. Ideally, I would like to start exposing them slowly to different churches as they grow older. But right now this is working for them.

I was born on an Easter Sunday so it's kind of always been "my" holiday.

I celebrate Easter because I love God.

For those of you that have posted that you don't allow or expose your children to God, you're keeping something very precious from them. My son has been going to Church since he was 18 months old. He used to be in the nursery until he turned 5 in January. He now sits in the sanctuary with me every Sunday for the sermon. He enjoys going to church, and enjoys learning about God.

He also goes to AWANA once a week, and loves it. If you want to give them a small taste of God, please enroll them. It only costs @ $25.00 for the entire year. It runs from September to the end of May. You drop your child off and pick them up at the end. You don't have to attend the church, you don't have to do anything.

It's a great time for the kids, they play games (they get a little exercise), and they recite verses from the bible. It is completely age appropriate. The bonus is, you as the parent get a short break (6pm to 7:45). The starting age is 3, up to 5th grade.

I believe just about every church offers AWANA, but my church is Southern Calvert Baptist Church.

Just try it, I'm sure your kids will enjoy it, do not let the church intimidate you or allow your feelings for religion to spill over to your children. Give them the right to decide on their own.

I don't celebrate Easter because I'm not a Christian. Christmas has become fairly secular, but Easter to me is still a truly Christian holiday, so it's like Rosh Hashana or Immaculate Conception to me and I don't observe.
