View Full Version : Do you consider yourself a 'sheep'...

...politically?
Point is, that when you vote, it is private. So, even if you go along to get along in public, you still have the privacy to vote as you see fit.

I don't consider myself a sheep, but have been given valuable insight into others' POV.
And I will say that I can converse about politics (which I know little about), but I become silent when the discussions, debates and emotional tyrades :whistle: kick in. I just start pinching heads with my forefinger and thumb. :yay:

Nobody ever thinks they are a sheep. Just like nobody ever thinks they are stupid, or immoral, or anything else. So this is a pointless poll.

"I'm not a sheep! I vote based on my beliefs and opinions! That's why I want Barack Obama, because he's for HOPE and CHANGE and so am I!"

How about make a poll that asks if you automatically assume everyone who voted differently than you are sheep. :shrug:

I'll have to get back to you after I have a chance to ask some people whether or not I do.

:nono:
There are plenty of people who understand Barack Obama's agenda and are all for it. And out of those people, there are even some who realize how it will negatively affect them personally, and are STILL all for it.
But the vast majority of both Democrats AND Republicans are sheep who vote for whoever the media or their favorite celebrity tells them to.

How about you stop thinking you can read my mind and just answer the question? I made NO distinction or reference to any party, any belief nor did I exclude myself as some sort of reference point for the only CORRECT ideas.

So, in essense, you're saying everyone IS a sheep because everyone thinks they're not?
Steve Martin;
Now let's repeat the non-conformists' oath: I promise to be different! (audience repeats) I promise to be unique! (audience repeats) I promise not to repeat things other people say! (audience laughs, repeats) Good!

Steve Martin;
No, I think she is saying that most people are sheep AND that most/all people don't think they are sheep - not that the former assertion is true BECAUSE of the latter assertion.
As for me, I think I've figured out whether or not I am a sheep, but I'm still waiting on sufficient input to determine whether or not I think I am - which is the question at hand.

Then maybe we need to define what sheep do in context.

I'll be absolutely amazed if you get a single (sincere) vote for "Yes".
Nobody believes that they are a sheep, even if they are one. Everyone likes to think that they think for themselves even the most line-towing wingnut jackass clowns.
Everyone will point out the sheep - and then proceed to feel superior about it.

That's not what I got from what she wrote. I got almost exactly what I wrote.
Many people ARE sheep - but nobody actually believes they are one themselves.
Its kind of like when the issue of gratuities comes up in the forums. A waiter or waitress will post a complaint that, generally speaking, people around these parts are poor tippers. Then everyone chimes in that they're excellent tippers giving their waiters exactly what they deserved and not a penny less.

Or when everyone claims their children are so well-behaved and they're great parents, when we all see bratty kids and bad parents in public?

I have a really tough time defining that. I can make a case that it is the dumb asses who don't know crap about the issues, or claim they do, and just vote in a predetermined fashion anyway; Herd behavior with the occasional pointless bellow of defiance just to feel alive.
I can also make a case for sheep being the ones who know a whole lot about the issues and actually think that makes a difference when the facts show that it doesn't. :lol:
I can ALSO make a case for it being those who don't give a damn about politics because they're sure it doesn't matter yet their own lack of participation is the guarantor that it doesn't make a difference!
