Does anyone have suggestions for how to navigate this forum, what areas to check out, secrets to the options and preferences that are available, or any of those nifty tricks to view these forums? I'm new and trying to figure out the best way to go through and use everything.

I've been on other forums but none like this one. I know I picked up a lot of tips in other forums so I was hoping something like that existed around here.

Thank you

1st set your post count per page to 40.

Then set it to show most recent posts 1st. Otherwise in long threads, you go back to 1st post everytime.

I was just looking at that stuff now. I will be sure to do that. Thanks

The first thing is to get familiar with your User CP (in the menu bar below the thread title). This is where you set your options, sig lines, join personal forums, etc.

Next thing is to familiarize yourself with the forum rules, which are posted at the top of each category, or you can check the FAQs.

Last, but not least, bring your sense of humor. You will enjoy your forum experience better if you do.

Welcome!

Sense of humor?? Whats that? :dye:

I like this rule! "No flaming the newbies. This should be a friendly and welcoming environment for new members, not a trial by fire." If I had to walk across some burning coals I would have waited because I'm not sure if it would have been worthwhile!

Are the personal forums the group memberships section? I was just looking at those. There are a few places that look good. Do you always get accepted or are they "personal" because they are for private groups? Are there any that have larger leniency for access that I could get in immediately or after a short while?

They are mainly "personal" but everyone gets into Fight Club. It is an interesting personal forum.

Personal forums are in the Group Memberships section. You can apply to any you like, but you may or may not be approved. Some PF owners let anyone in for general discussion; others are private for groups of personal friends.

Warning about Fight Club:

This is what the title indicates - a fight club. It's not a nice social club, so be aware before you try to join.

Thanks to all 3 answers. Now here is the question of the minute.

DRUMROLL!!

Is there any way to quote multiple posts? I see "Reply w/ Quote" and "Quick Reply" but those are the only two options I can find.

Yup.

At the bottom right of each post, you'll see the " symbol. Click that and it turns orange, meaning you've selected it to multi-quote. Then do the same for all the posts you want to quote, hit Reply, and you're set.

Ok. I will check it out and if I don't like it I will leave! I liked the movie though.

MPD is used all over the internet - we didn't invent that.

Plus we told him how to do the siggy, av, etc and join FC. Read the thread. :smack:

Have you never seen the word "vajayjay" before? I see that and hear that all the time. More appropriate than most of the other words you can use. :)

I asked for tips on this specific forum. I have seen other forums before. After I clicked on "User CP" some of the things that needed to be done were self-explanatory. But there were other useful hints that I picked up by reading here.

[EDIT] I have a complaint! I was reading on smilies and it said "Certain combinations of text characters are converted into smilies. For example,:) is converted into a smiling face. " That did not turn into a smilie!
