So, I had my gallbladder sucked out 5 months ago and after still not feeling great a few weeks later the dr put me on Carafate. The wonder drug for me. I can't take it as prescribed which is 3 times a day on an empty stomach. I'm a grazer and am never "empty" so I take it about 30 minutes before an actual meal. I can eat without puking it all back up an hour later. I'm still not feeling normal though. I'd say about 50% of the time after I eat any portion that fills my stomach up I get a horrid squeezing pain when my stomach empties. Not as bad as it was before they took my gallbladder but fairly comperable. Anyone else go through this after having a gallbladder out? 5 months after I'd hoped to be doing MUCH better.
There is some question as to if I may have an over active thyroid and I'll be having that bloodwork done soon. It can cause nausea but this is more pain to the point of nausea not just nausea being the symptom.

Even though it's still pretty miserable it's a marked improvement from before I had it sucked out. I couldn't eat anything with ANY fat before without getting sick as a dog. Now I'm about 50%. It's the strangest thing though, shortly after eating I feel like someone is squeezing the crap out of my lower stomach. It's awful.

Have you been checked for ulcers? You might want to get an endoscopy. I had my gallbladder out about 2 yrs ago, and a few times I had what felt like the beginnings of an attack, but it's only lasted for a brief time.

No and no. I'm thinking it may be an ulcer since I get relief from the carafate. Too much bile in there irritating everything. Its not like bloating its like squeezing and actual pain.

Sounds like it's time for an endoscopy and to be tested for the bacteria that causes ulcers. Give me a moment, I'll remember the name of the bacteria  H pylori That's it :yahoo:
