I'm looking for a place to go for a long weekend getaway, preferably 4th of July weekend. I'm looking for some places that are somewhat close, 5 hours or less. Anyone have any ideas?

The area surrounding Peddler's Village is really nice too! There is a steam train station and it's all so beautifully Pennsylvanian! It was a wonderful getaway!

I really think we would enjoy it but I don't know if I want to spend $1,000. We were going to do Atlantic City, we usually go twice a year, but at 4th of July time it is like $1,000 there also plus gambling money. Did Peddlers Village have a pool?

We didn't stay in Peddler's Village... we stayed at the Sheraton near it. There are a lot of nice hotels, B&Bs and such in the area. Be creative and do a little research and you can make ANY trip afforadable. For instance, there is a town just on the outskirts of Nashville that you can stay in a hotel suite with fully equipped kitchen for less than 1/2 what you'd pay for a hotel room in Nashville. And get this... the driving distance to key attractions was less too!

Go to a hotel search engine, key in a destination and then look on the outskirts. You'll find good deals and less crowds in the pool!

Thanks for your suggestions but I am not really into the Victorian type places.
