Did anyone else catch the newscast about the Zicam warning and recall? Apparently the nasal swabs and the nasal mist are causing some very ill side affects in some individuals by them losing their sense of smell and taste buds. Reports stated that certain individuals used this product and had a severe burning sensation that would last minutes in some people and hours in others and then they discovered they had permenant sense of smell damage and losing their taste buds.

This is why we floss, every single day. So that we do not need these snake oil and talisman 'cures'.

Yeah I heard about that. There have been just over 100 reported cases since 2003. It has to do with the Zinc! Go figure. Taking the losenges and other stuff is supposedly still ok, but the nasal ones are potentially dangerous. This is pretty upsetting since those darn nasal swabs seemed to be the best option I've found for colds.

Doesn't necessarily happen the first or second time. But you won't be using it anymore -- the FDA or whatever is pulling it off the shelves

Oh crap. I love this stuff. Don't use it that often, but when I do it is amazing. I use the sinus spray. Hopefully they will come out with a safer spray that is also good.

someone told me that -- but i haven't seen it listed anywhere. But if the FDA is saying these effects can happen, why wouldn't it be pulled?

I heard it not being pulled because it is one of the homeopathic med. I dont think they are regulated by the FDA, maybe wrong on that.

Yeah the only thing that they said on the news Channel 9 is that only the nasal sprays, swabs, and kids swabs were the warning factors, and that the FDA had spoke of recalling these products, did not say they had yet, and strongly advised people not to use them at all, which sucks cause they really do work, and I have had no problems with them.
