Okay guys, lets talk, I think both Bob and aps run flip up helmets, and the slight annoyance of taking my eyeglasses off, donning the helmet, then taking them off to doff it is getting to me. What helmets do you guys use, pro/cons.

(Not to mention, my current helmet is a sort of purple, and clashes horribly with the silver/black Strom):killingme

I had a "flippy helmet" like aps and hated it. It didn't fit my head right and would wobble around. I think whatever you get, the most important thing is try the styles on first before ordering.

I'm not understanding, here. They still have to take their glasses off to put helmet on, take off glasses to take helmet off.

What am I missing here?

No, not with the flip style helmets. You can put your glasses on without taking off your helmet.

:yeahthat: try them on and get one that fits you!! all helmets are different from style and make. my dad uses a flippy helmet and likes it but my mon, and Fiance use a 3/4 helmet. it all depends on your prefrence.

I have that helmet, and I can take the helmet OFF without removing my glasses, but have to remove the glasses before putting it back on. It's no big deal.

Open faced, it goes on like a really heavy ball cap that covers your ears. So, yes, you can take it off without bothering your glasses. Also say you are out on a ride, stop for a break. You can flip open your helmet, without taking it off, to talk to people, smoke a cigarette, take a swig of water, eat a sandwich, just get some fresh air, whatever floats your boat. Sometimes, it's inconvenient to take helmet off, put helmet on, repeat.

I really liked the helmet, it just didn't fit my head right.

We just have full face with a flip up visor. I do like how Bob's has a sun visor and clear on at the same time and then the sun flips back into the helmet when not needed.

Got it! :buddies:

The term is "modular", not "flippy"

My av is the same as my Caberg helmet.
There is currently no U.S. distributer, when I needed a new face shield, I had to oner on Ebay from England.

Motovations carries Shark helmets, cool design. The chinbar will rotate to the rear of the helmet and give you a 3/4 easily.. I can take my chinbar off in a few minutes but then I've got a chinbar to carry around.

FYI, there is a BIG difference in the comfort between a $200 helmet and a $300+

I have one of these flippy helmets, but I can, and usually do, put my glasses on first. Both with this helmet and the one that just has the flip up shield.
The picture is a Nolan 102 n com. It has a flip up chin piece, sheild and sun visor. $315.

I know its modular:) Flippy sounds more fun, though:buddies: Thanks for the info, folks. Yeah, I did an errand run Teusday, and did the whole glasses on/off thing at Wal-Mart, then, since they didnt have the particular soda I was after, need to stop into WaWa for it. Having to do the whole rigamarole for what was really a 1:30 stop was a pain. Much easier to "modulate" the helmet:poke:

I have the same one, and updated to the N103. Got one for both me and the wife.

Modulars are noisier than full face single piece, but since I've gone modular never going back.. It's nice when it's hot out to flip up the entire front of the helmet for air.

Helmet Express has N103s for $299.

Modular, internal sunvisor, and can get internal comms built specifically for the helmet.

:yay: :yay:

My first Modular was a Caberg, switched to the NOlan N102, and found it much more quiet, and more comfortable on day long rides. The N103 seems quieter still, but it maybe because the N102 is 2 years old. I LOVED the internal visor on the Caberg, but it wasn't comfortable for me, and as soon as Nolan came out with the internal visor I was looking at getting one.

My only comment is that it looks JUST LIKE one I got from JCWhitney. The vent on the front and the ratchet assembly are the giveaways. It was a POS. The ratchets broke after 6 months, the lining falls out of place.....

Forget taking the glasses on and off...get a helmet with an integrated sun visor. Much easier to adjust for the conditions while riding. Sun goes down, retract the tinted visor.

Retail: $462.06 - $544.94
Our Low Price: $330.99 - $391.99
You Save: $131.07 - $152.95

$229 at Helmet Express for the N102 N-Com. $100 less then JC's SALE PRICE!!

And JC is touting a $544 REGULAR price??? :bs: MSRP is $369.

I never saw them for more than $310 at the dealers, and paid $205 for mine out of a bike shop in Annapolis..

N103 Cost me $299, and it's the new(er) model.
