to unstuck carbs on a Honda GW GL1100. Throttle will turn just a bit, but I don't want to force it and also trying not to have to take the carbs completely off. I will if I have to.

remove to clean, if you want to do a good job. Also lube the cable.
How long has it been sitting?

6 years. They'll really need to be pulled and cleaned. I could smell the varnish in them.

If you don't know what to clean um with, YOU need to leave them alone.

You need to get your azz over here and pick up the parts that need clear coated.

Those parts are the least of your worries.

Shouldn't be bad, actually. I rebuilt those carbs with all new components 6 years ago, ran some fuel thru it and got sidetracked, never got back to it. Hoses and such are in good shape. Throttle and choke cables are new (well, back then and no use on them...).
I found that 90% alcohol (you can get it in the drugstore) does a fast and easy job of cleaning old varnish out of carbs. However, you have to make sure there are no gaskets or seals still in the carb body. Only use it on metal.

Yeah and it's not an easy task getting to the screws holding the carbs in. :yikes:

Unbolt the manifolds from the heads. That gives you enough room to move the carbs forward and undo the cables, then pull them out.
-OR-
RTFM. I gave you the Chilton's for a reason!
