I recently bought a lab puppy and am looking for a good vet. I am ideally looking for a vet that at a minimum takes holistic medicine into consideration. I took him to Waldorf Animal Clinic just for an initial check up. The reception staff was nice but I wasn't impressed with the vet. Too impersonal. Any help would be appreciated.

Not sure where you are located, but I would recommend
Prince Frederick Animal Hospital in Calvert County or
Companion Care in St Mary's County.

Here's another vote for PF Animal Hospital if Calvert isn't too far. We have a black lab and they are so great with him.

PF is great...Dr. Darnell just went mobile. I love her. She's aways worked with me regarding my views on what to feed, treatments, vaccines, etc.

all kinds vet in callaway is good too. It is a husband and wife owned business and they are the only 2 you will see in there other than the techs and receptionists they have working for them.
I take my stbernard there who shakes when she goes to the vet and they are very good with her and take there time with her. She just recently became this way as when she was a baby she had no issues but I guess she now associates going to the vet with getting her nails clipped and flea meds etc I guess that is why she shakes now as the vets/techs have never done a mean thing to her.

I do not know where you live, but I have been fairly happy with Dunkirk Animal, their prices are not too high - and real nice vets.

Thank you to those who have responded. I live in Waldorf. But for the right vet I am willing to travel. Do any of the vets mentioned consider holistic medicine? That is really important to me. Not a fan of traditional medicine whether for humans or animals.

And blew 5 teeth out of a poms mouth and didn't tell us until check out. Waldorf Animal Clinic Very Bad.
Kristal Southern, DVM was also rude on more then one occasion.
I heard there is a Holistic Vet north of Waldorf, check with the new Holistic Warehouse on Old Washington Rd in Waldorf. They have a great selection of natural foods and the guy running the place was very nice. The only other one that I know of is in Laurel, MD Dr. Sallie Morris at Rocky Gorge...I love her and will not see anyone else at her practice. However, talk to Tidewater and see if they will go holistic with you. I have been happy with them.

We take our dogs to Banfield in Waldorf, next to PetsMart... all 3 vets are fantastic and they have never steered us wrong. We also have them on the insurance plan - it saves us major $$$ as well.

I'm definitely not a fan of traditional medicine either. I live in Lusby and although it's a bit of a hike I take all of my animals (feral barn cats included) to Dr. Sara Chapman at Animal Medical Center of Watkins Park in Largo. The number is 301-249-3030. She's strictly holistic but the other vets at the practice are traditional. She is absolutely amazing though!! I've never met someone who knows so much about homeopathy!! She's great to work with and just a wealth of information! Every time I bring one of my guys there I learn so much! Many of my customers have gone to her and been very happy with her as well.

Sallie Morris used to see my horses when I lived in Clarksville. She was fantastic!

The receptionists could be more polite and professional in my opinion. The Doctors I am pleased with except for the heavy set female. I forget her name but I won't let her see my animals.

The cute blonde tech is one of my BFFs. She's worked there for forever. My other BFF was a vet there for a short time.

We've been going to St. Charles Animal Hospital for over 15 years. They're a little more expensive, but we've always gotten great service from them. All the vets there know our 2 dogs by name and treat them great. They also have a wonderful groomer (Wendy) that works there.

All Kinds Vet is the best. They've been great with my animals and very personable/caring about them.

We've used Solomons Vet for many years. The dr's there are very caring. When we had to put our boxer down a couple of months ago, Dr. Edwards cried as much as I did. They get really attached to your animals!
