Chess, It looks like a good learning coarse for beginners, and seems worth it. I may be able to save you that money though. I wrote up a thread that is a sticky at the top of the Photography section that helps a lot with different questions. Read through it a little, and #3 in the post has a Digital Camera coarse that is free.

Good luck.

It's only $150. It can't be that bad. I took a digital photography class at CSM and the majority of the class had point and shoot cameras.

Why would you need to upgrade when you can't use the camera you have?

Read the owner's manual.

Just set the right dial to AUTO.. and shoot until your heart's content.. Then when you get the handle on composing pictures then you can mess with f stop and aperature..

Aren;t many of those you mentioned in the SoMD photography club?? Been out to any of their meetings?

Here is a good manual on how to use the features of your D60.

Amazon.com: Nikon D60 Digital Field Guide (9780470383124): J. Dennis Thomas: Books (http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-D60-Digital-Field-Guide/dp/0470383127)

The Field Guides are great!

Which CSM branch, class, and prof?

It's an intro class that was at the Leonardtown campus. I don't remember the professor's name, but he was good. It was the other students that was holding the class back.
