Just a heads up for all you "birders"-at 3 separate locations I have purchased black oil sunflower seeds in 20# and 40# bags-all were moldy. I returned the bags but want to warn you; ask to open the bag while in the store-DO NOT FEED MOLDY SEED TO BIRDS. Moldy seed can poison birds and kill them. Discard any damp or moldy seed the same way you throw out moldy bread! Throw it in the trash not on the ground where birds will find it.

Speaking of feeding bread to birds-it doesn't provide much of the nutrients that they need in the colder months - fat & calories - but it isn't toxic to them. Just starchy filler.
