The race will be run Monday at 12:00 pm EST. We will have updates in this thread throughout the race.

President Obama was supposed to meet Jimmie Johnson and other top drivers of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at a White House ceremony open to the press Monday. That ceremony has been canceled due to the delay of the Pennsylvania 500 at Pocono which totally sucks. After all, it's not everyday you get an invitation to come to The White House and meet the President of the United States.

Hamlin leads the two Hendrick cars (Jimmie and Jeffie) are second and 3rd. I've been listening on MRN until now and it doesn't sound like a very good race.

Restart Lap 59: Montoya lost a few spots. Kahne, The Old Man and Shrub are on the move.

Caution lap 63: Part of one of the caution lights flew off and on to the racetrack. Hamlin leads. One of the cars to watch is Brian Vickers, he has a good piece today.

Reed Sorenson in the blue #43 is a sleeper, he's in 14th. AJ Allmendinger is 15th. Two more cars having a great run so far.

Doesnt look like a good day for those who picked Tony.:banghead:

NASCAR has issued a warning to the 11 car for jumping the restart. He was out of line and already on the inside (he chose the outside) and 2 carlengths ahead of Johnson when they crossed the line last restart.

Gumbo dun might've just locked himself up a win. As of right now, this is Hamlin's race to lose. But the Columbian Jumping Bean taught us last week you can loose a race. :killingme

Restart, Hamlin leads off 2.

This is a great race for Pocono standards, lots of side-by-side action.

I'll tell ya what folks, keep an eye on AJ Allmendinger car #44. He's been clicking off positions lap after lap and is battling Vickers for 12th right now.

Looks like Junior's on the move, maybe still hope for Tony.

Caution on lap 96 for car 96. Logano did a nice job of driving to avoid him.

Most of the leaders came in on that round of pit stops, it looks like Kasey Kahne will inherit the lead.

DipStick
08-03-2009, 03:12 PM
Kahne, Reutimann, Kenseth, Ragan, Ambrose, McMurray, Stewart, and Elliott Sadler did not pit, they will lead, double file restart on the way.

Trouble for Jimmie Johnson (I knew picking him would jinx his ass:killingme:killingme) his car is under power, Jimmie Johnson is off the pace and headed for pit road.

DipStick
08-03-2009, 03:20 PM
It was a piece of rubber or something, knocked a plug wire loose. The simplest thing it could be, it was. Damn that little #### has got to be the luckiest driver ever born.

DipStick
08-03-2009, 03:24 PM
Hold on a moment. ESPN pit reporter screwed up, she just said they didn't find a loose plug wire and Jimmie is slowing again. It's terminal for the 48. :killingme:killingme

DipStick
08-03-2009, 03:27 PM
NASCAR has told Jimmie to pick up the pace or get off the track.

DipStick
08-03-2009, 03:32 PM
Trouble for the 18, Kyle Busch. He thinks the tire is going down, he can't turn the car "through the center off." He's dropped 8 spots in the past couple laps.

142 of 200: Caution flag is out. David Ragan scraped the wall.

So, all the talk going on about fuel mileage and pit strategy ... just went out the window.

DipStick
08-03-2009, 03:57 PM
OK, that was definently a "Save Jimmie" caution. Ragan got no damage from the impact, and continued driving like nothing happened when he scraped the wall. :killingme

DipStick
08-03-2009, 03:59 PM
Mark Martin, Brian Vickers, Jeff Burton and Sam Hornish stayed out. Mark leads a lap and collects 5 bonus points. That is so critical for him, he is right on the edge of the window looking outside of the Chase.

Juan Pablo's got balls of steel man, going three wide in the middle in the tunnel turn and turn 3. :faint:

Come on NASCAR. :bs:

DipStick
08-03-2009, 04:23 PM
ESPN throws :bs: flag on Robby's penalty. Skurt leads, restart lap 161, here comes Flipper.

DipStick
08-03-2009, 04:26 PM
NASCAR says Robby ran in to Stremee under caution and that's the cause for the penalty. ESPN says they don't have it on video (mind you, they have 72+ cameras).

You be the judge.

Caution is out lap 166, debris.

DipStick
08-03-2009, 04:30 PM
JPM and 77 car pitted before the caution. Could that put them in the catbird seat? Could Juan Pablo redeem himself after Indy?

Junyer wins the race off pit road, Bowyer and Scott Speed did not pit but they cannot make it. Points?

DipStick

DipStick
08-03-2009, 04:53 PM
Damn taco guy running second.

Taco Guy got a bad restart, and he backed off in turn 2. Kahne and Hornish got beside him, then Skurt tried to make it four-wide and Pablo backed off, he knew it wouldn't work.
