"A few nights ago I was looking at the various ministers and ministries on TV to see what they were doing and if they were teaching or preaching the word of God. My overall impression was that the vast majority of these ministers are outright crooks. The late night TV ministers on such stations as BET and the Christian Broadcasting networks are given over to the love of money.

In the USA, there is a rampant spirit, culture, and plague of love of money preachers who have not been sent from God, who do not now or have ever known God, and/or who were, maybe, once true ministers, but are now backslidden from the faith, their consciences are seared with, as it were, a hot iron, yet they stay in their positions in the church and are using those positions to secure all the money they can in the name of God. This is tragic because the poor people they reach are weak and unlearned in the faith!

The Apostle Paul warned Titus and Timothy against this love of money spirit that is so afoot in many US ministers. Many of these ministers have coined and teach a Gospel of Wealth in which they become wealthy first, primarily, and mostly. And that is done by naïve Christians sending, giving, and heaping upon ungodly men parcels and throngs of money in the name of God.

This old money seduction is older than Rev. Ike, who, by the way, is still around receiving anyone’s money who is uniformed enough to send it to him. But although Ike made little bones about his seduction and what he was and probably still is doing with the money sent to him, his fraud is miniscule compared to the colossus fraud that is being perpetrated against Christian people by many of today’s USA ministers in the name of God. excerpt from the article cited:
One man who calls himself Prophet Jordan--a young man with dreadlocks and a speaker on his face, opens his Bible to Malachi 3:7, and deduces from that that God wants his viewers to send him a $37 faith offering---Malachi 3:7= $37.00; how creative!

OK, let's read the context of Malachai regarding the "tithes and offerings"

This is a section quoted totally out of context by the type of preachers that this article is referring to:

Malachi, Chapter 3, verses:
7: Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?
8: Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.
9: Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.
10: Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

Commentary:

Hmmm...if you read the Book of Malachi, specifically the Chapter context from which the scripture is quoted, you will find that God was not speaking to the people; He was chastising the religious leaders of that time because they were misusing the tithes and offerings that the people were bringing to them. (Much like today)

The priests were holding back the best of offerings for their own use and consumption and God disapproved of it. Please read the book of Malachi in its complete context and then you will understand.

New Testament tithing is for one to give as they are able to and willfully from the goodness of their heart and not out of obligation. It is not limited to nor exacted at 10%.

Indeed, this is not what preachers of mega-churches want you to know.
But then consider the lifestyle many of them have compared to the lifestyle of the congregants who are "supporting" the ones who preach the "prosperity doctrine."

Malachi 3:7-10 applies to these modern day preachers as it did back in Old Testament days. God's Word tells them that they are robbing God of the tithes and offerings that are supposed to be helping the people in need and not the needs of the leaders and the board of directors of the church.

Truly, many religions have turned God's House into a den of thieves.

I'll bet your TV has both a channel selector and an Off switch.
You don't qualify as a victim :drama:

Paul Revere wasn't playing the victim when he rode through the streets at midnight.
He was playing the role of patriot.
