I have a wedding to go to in a few weeks and I want to put my hair up. I've found this and I like it but I'm wondering if there's something comparable around here that I can actually look at before I buy it.

Really? I can't use the regular combs, I need one with the tines like this one. My hair is very thick.

There's a little ghetto beauty supply store by the Safeway and another one by one of the grocery stores a little further north. I'd try those and they're close.

Thanks..I figured it might be waste of time to hit the place by Safeway. Oooh, there's one by Food Lion, right?

Yeah, Food Lion! Those types of places typically have a lot of accessories and nail polish. When I was looking for wax to wax my eyebrows NONE could be found.

Is that one near Safeway still open? If you're stopping in the one near Food Lion, can you let us know how it is? I was told that it carries more of an "ethnic line" than I'd need but I haven't been in there to look.
Maybe try Scalped? I know they have a decent amount of items for sale there, some jewelry & things, just not sure about the hair accessories.
$39 for a hair comb :yikes:

Those combs don't work in my hair either, no matter the size...my hair's thick too. How about a claw instead, something that would grab your hair. I guess the comb would work if you put bobby pins in the other side.

I have a claw in it now but I think that's a little too casual for a wedding. I think I can do the twist myself but I didn't want to have to use 4 gazillion bobby pins like my stylist does.

That's where I get my hair done. I'll give them a shout... thanks!

If you're in Annapolis Mall, you might want to check out a kiosk near the center mini-food court (where the Orange Julius stand is...and the Annie's Pretzels place, etc.). This kiosk sells hair extensions, but also has some nice combs and hair doo-dads that you might like, too. I can't remember the name of the place, but it's near the entrance to JCPenney's, I think.

Chasey and I were there Friday. We played with the hair things...they have wire in them. I wasn't thinking about a comb that day unfortunately...maybe a trip back there is in order.

Yeah, I agree but you could hide the clip with your hair (especially if you curl it). Otherwise, you're stuck using a comb with 4 gazillion bobby pins

 I just saw an ad for them in a catalog yesterday. I thought of trying it, certainly cheap enough, but I thought it probably wouldn't stay in my hair. Does it really stay put, without falling out?

yeah i havent had a bit of trouble with it staying in..my main problem with it is that in order to hide itwell i have to put it quite far back on my head..so it makes the "bump" a little farther back t hen i like. u should also tease your hair to make it look good..so it takes a little work. but it is fun to use when going out...

That is what I was thinking. A quick trip to the craft store and my hot glue gun and I could make you a dozen or more for that price!
I luv my hot glue gun and I can't imagine how I ever lived without one.

Colleens Dream in Leonardtown. They have vintage stuff. I bought my whole outfit there when I had a themed wedding to go to. Lots of cute hair stuff.

Not exactly what you're asking about but thought I'd throw this out anyway... have you tried those "EZ comb" things? I have one that I love that I got here in North Beach in a little shop (Coffee, Tea & Whimsey) and my sister bought one in the Market in Charleston so they have them all over & not necessicarily under that brand name. My hair is fine and sis's is thick and it holds both equally well. The beaded elastic that stretches between the combs dresses up the hair-do and also provides some physics concepts to keeping the combs in your hair instead of having them fall out!
