OK, how do we stop this behavior?

Maverick (male) is 11 months old, neutered, and has been an only cat since we adopted him 9 months ago.

We recently adopted 4 month old Okey (female) who is spayed and just wants to be a little girl.

Maverick has decided that Okey is awfull cute and is always trying to hold her down and get in her business. So far, Okey has managed to keep him at bay and when we catch him doing it, we spray him with a water bottle. He doesn't seem to understand that this is not acceptable behavior though. Especially at 1:00 in the morning under my bed.

How do we break him of this so we can all get a good nights sleep?

PS: Before Okey came to live with us, Maverick had a stuffed bunny that he pulled the same crap with. The bunny didn't seem to mind so we just let it go.

HELP!

do you mean the male is humping the female? or do you mean the male is being a bully and playing too rough with the new kitty?

I have two gay cats. The big male humps the little male all the time. Some times the little one howls like the male is uh... Nevermind...

 You know, I've NEVER had a cat do that but I've heard about it. Supposedly it's not sexual but more out of wanting attention and showing dominance over the new kitty.

Give Okey a knife and let her take care of Maverick...

 That sucks! I haven't had that problem, so I haven't even read about it, but my suggestion would be to stop into a bookstore and see if there's any help in the Cat Bible. You may want to pick it up since they're still little, from what I've read in it it's helped any behavior problems with my boys. For example, one peed outside of the litter box a few times, and I resolved it within the next two purchases of litter and removing the lid from the litter box.

Best of luck... that's got to be especially awkward with company over!

:yeahthat: I read an article about someone whose cat was humping a stuffed fox. The vet said check the cat for a possible UTI. If it's not a UTI, it's just boredom or could be some sexual feelings coming out, but it wouldn't cause any harm (of course ). The vet recommended to just put the stuffed fox away when company came over.

In this case, I'd just wait and see if Maverick gets over it. Or, maybe Okey will eventually get sick of it and put him in his place.

In the meantime, lock them out of your bedroom.
