The fate of Rifqa Bary, a seventeen year-old convert from Islam to Christianity, will be determined by Florida courts in September on whether the runaway will be returned to her father's custody in Ohio. Rifqa's fear is that her Muslim father is obligated to conduct an "honor killing" of his daughter in compliance to Islamic Shari'a Laws and she is in fear for her life.

Background:
Honor killings of an apostate of Islam are derived from words of the Islamic prophet, Muhammad, from which Shari'a laws are based. Here are three examples that pronounce the fate of death upon any Muslim who leaves the Islamic faith:

Muslims allowed to be killed for leaving the Islamic Faith:

Fundamental Muslims are allowed to kill another Muslim who is deemed an apostate by the decree of Shari'a Law. Here are three examples of Islamic rulings that allow a Muslim to kill another Muslim for the following instances:

1) "Abdullah bin Masud narrated that the messenger of Allah said : "The blood of a Muslim may not be legally spilt other than in one of three [instances] : the married person who commits adultery; a life for a life; and one who forsakes his religion and abandons the community."
Source:(it was related by Bukhari and Muslim) (Imam An-Nawawi's Book - Hadith #14)

2) "Some Zanadiqa (atheists) were brought to 'Ali and he burnt them. The news of this event, reached Ibn 'Abbas who said, 'If I had been in his place, I would not have burnt them, as Allah's Apostle forbade it, saying, 'Do not punish anybody with Allah's punishment (fire).' I would have killed them according to the statement of Allah's Apostle, 'Whoever changed his Islamic religion, then kill him.'"

Source:(Sahih Bukhari: Volume 9, Book 84, Number 57, Narrated 'Ikrima)

3) "Whenever I tell you a narration from Allah's Apostle, by Allah, I would rather fall down from the sky than ascribe a false statement to him, but if I tell you something between me and you (not a Hadith) then it was indeed a trick (i.e., I may say things just to cheat my enemy). No doubt I heard Allah's Apostle saying, "During the last days there will appear some young foolish people who will say the best words but their faith will not go beyond their throats (i.e. they will have no faith) and will go out from (leave) their religion as an arrow goes out of the game. So, where-ever you find them, kill them, for who-ever kills them shall have reward on the Day of Resurrection."

Legal Technicality?

The decision whether to send Rifqa Bary back to her father's custody in Ohio or allow her to stay under protective custody in Florida will go before the Florida courts on September 3, 2009.

If the family desires to abide by Islamic laws established by their native Sri Lanka, of which Rifqa is a citizen, it appears that her decision to convert from Islam to Christianity without parental input could be based on the "age of consent law" that is set at 13 years of age in Sri Lanka. Until recently, Sri Lanka's age of consent had been 16 years of age but was lowered to 13 for "specific reasons".

Rifqa Bary is seventeen years old - well past the Sri Lankan age of consent through which she would be able to make a legal decision for herself.

The most crucial decision that the State of Florida must consider is the fact that due to the Islamic religious Sharia' Laws, Rifqa Bary has good reason to fear for her life. Although her father claims she will be safe in Ohio, Rifqa's life remains in jeopardy on the grounds that a convert from Islam to Christianity is considered an "apostate" and must be killed for abandoning the Islamic faith.

Rifqa Bary should remain in Florida under the protective custody of the State and the guardians who are presently protecting and caring for her now.

please pray for Rifqa's safety in this situation. Knowing that she is not the only one who faces such consequences as there are many young Muslims who fear the same will happen to them if they desire to leave Islam for any other faith.

Sri Lanka reduces “age of consent” from 16 years old to 13 years old.

(article excerpt)

[Wafa] Sultan, a Syrian-born psychiatrist, human rights activist and author, wrote on JihadWatch.org that the case "highlights the danger of creeping jihad in the Western world.

"This is not only because of the imminent danger the teenage girl may face right here in the U.S., had the court decided to have her return to her parents' home, but also because of the mainstream media's weak response to the severity of this case.

"I was born and raised as a Muslim in Syria. I practiced Islam for thirty years of my life. Now I am a known human rights activist striving to save our future Muslim generations from the impact of the violent, hateful Islamic doctrines embedded in the Shariah," she continued.

"My life is also threatened, not only by my own extended family, but by countless men who consider themselves devout Muslims. Under Shariah, if a Muslim leaves Islam or converts to another religion he/she is an 'apostate,' to be killed. Under Shariah every Muslim has the right to kill such an apostate without any questions asked," she warned.
The United Nations tabulates about 5,000 such "honor killings" annually around the world, and they have been documented even in the United States.

Note: The above article appeared August 21, 2009 and is only a temporary victory for Rifqa. Reportedly, the final determination of her custody case will be heard in the Florida courts on September 3rd.

Yours isnt a post about the repugnant practices of Islam, its yet another example of Christian Hypocrisy.

Months ago, I created threads about Christian parents who withheld needed medical treatments from their sick children, and many of those children died. Many on here posted about the rights of the Parents to endanger their children by using the safety blanket of Religious Freedom.

Yet you post about another parent that endangers their child, using the safety blanket of Religion, and not a peep.

You've got whackos on both side of the aisle, pure and simple. While praying to the Lord and Your Christ for healing, there comes a time when you have to seek help from your family physician, in order to save a life.

These people, in my opinion are taking their faith just a bit too far.

The Muslims, in feeling justified, to commit murder, because one of their own converts to a different faith is just as - WHACKO! Again, JMHO

And Atheists aren't guilty of abuses and child neglect?

C'mon, Nucklesack, what you describe is an example of the fallen nature of humans that affects all cultures, civilizations, religious and secular ideologies except for what Jesus taught. Nowhere did Jesus ever call on parents to engage in the abuse and neglect of children as you describe and as people who claim to be "religious" are guilty of.

Yes - in fact there are denominations within the Christian sect who feel that overly strict discipline and emotional and verbal abuse is justified. Those parents will have to answer to God for their actions if they have cause a child to stumble in faith. Parents are to be a shining example of God's love and guidance with firm instructions in the way they should go but not abusive or causing physical endangerment upon the kids.

However, you continue to fail to understand that even while those other misguided religious parents are guilty of abuse, the Muslim parents are specifically indoctrinated to kill a child that leaves the faith as an honor killing - which basically constitutes premeditated murder.

Oh, and I am sure you can cite Old Testament Mosaic Laws and verses from the Talmud that encourage exactly what the Muslims are doing today. Where do you think they got their "revelations" for such actions????

In that regard, you fail to realize that the New Testament (New Covenant) teachings of Jesus rebuke such abusive and hateful behaviour as taught in the Old Testament Mosaic Laws that are found within the Orthodox teachings of Judaism.

Where in the New Testament are followers of Jesus told to behave in the way that Muhammad commanded of his followers?

Comparing the Teachings of Y’shua vs Muhammad
Y'shua (Isa’ / Jesus) taught this - which His followers are required to follow:

1. Love God and fellow man - even those who may be your enemy.
(Matthew 5:44) (Matthew 22:37-40)

2. Forgive others. Do not seek retribution and abide no longer by the rule of "an eye for an eye" (Matthew 5:28-48) (Matthew 6:15)

3. Put away the sword, for those who live by the sword shall die by the sword.
(Matthew 26:52)

4. Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called "The Children of God."
(Matthew 5:9)

5. “I Am The Way, The Truth and The Life; no man can come to The Father except through Me.” (John 14:6)

Muhammad taught this - which His followers are required to follow:

1. Oh slaves of Allah (Muslims) Obey Allah and invite all mankind to embrace Islam. Strike terror into the hearts of "Unbelievers" and slay those who do not accept Allah and smite the necks of those who do not believe that Muhammad is the prophet of Allah.
(Qur’an:047.004)
(Sunan Abu-Dawud, Book 14, Number 2635, Narrated Anas ibn Malik)

2. It is legal to seek vengeance and retribution in like manner: "A life for a life" and a Muslim who shall abandon Islam shall be killed.(Imam An-Nawawi's Book - Hadith #14)
(Sahih Bukhari: Volume 6, Book 61, Number 577, Narrated 'Ali)

3. Paradise is found "Under the Shades of Swords."
(Sahih Bukhari: Volume 4, Book 52, Number 210, Narrated Salim Abu An-Nadr)

4. There cannot be peace until Islam rules over all as the true religion on earth. This earth has been made only for Muslims to inherit and Muslims are commanded to fight until "faith in Allah prevails everywhere." (Qur'an: 008.039)
(Sahih Bukhari: Volume 1, Book 8, Number 429, Narrated Jabir bin 'Abdullah)

5. "It is obligatory to love the prophet more than the members of one's household: one's child, father or even the whole of humanity"
(Sahih Muslim: Book 001, Chapter 17: Number 0070)

Quite a contrast.
