I know I saw a recipe, I think in the "Southern Maryland: This is Living" magazine, a recipe for a flourless cake. Possibly also sugarless. It's supposed to be native to Southern Maryland, if my memory recalls correctly.
The problem? I can't remember its name. Google's drawn a total blank. I think it starts with a 'W', but I can't find anything that remotely matches that criteria.
Anyone got possible clues?

I remember a friendship cake that had to sit in a jar for a week, then you add other stuff and bake.

Not from the magazine, but found these online:

Tried that already, but my keywords were generic, and didn't turn up anything relevant that seem familiar.

here's the 'CONTACT US' link for the mag. maybe you could just ask them directly if they remember it from a recent issue?

this excerpt is from the Ches Life Mag and it references a flourless cake but I don't think it gave a recipe.
"...the desserts are tempting. The crab cake table has ordered two generous coconut cupcakes that they share among the four diners, but my eye is drawn to the apple cider donut served with homemade hot chocolate.... blah blah blah ... Kevin orders the gentleman’s chocolate cake, a dense, flourless cake spiked with whiskey. It is a massive ending to a very positive meal."

Thanks! I had that on my list to do later on, per RoseRed's idea. Got a long list, so I haven't gotten there yet :)
As for the excerpt, I know that's not it. I'll remember this one the instant I spot it. All I remember was that it was flourless. It may have had sugar, come to think of it (but I can't recall for certain till I clean up find my older issues). It was reportedly claimed to be a "native" dessert to the SoMD area, but my memory wants to say that there was additional information in the article that made that not be 100% substantiated.
