Just in case you were interested. First guy comes out to look at the washer (in the meantime my hot water heater quit after the storm. he looked at that too.) Tells me it the transmission. He doesn't fix Maytag. Only fixes what he sells. Great. Wish I knew that before but whatever. Told me may still be under warranty. I call Maytag, it is (til end of this year). They hook me up with the closest Maytag repair place, Bowie. Call them, kid came out yesterday. Says it may be the transmission but something is causing the drum not to spin (thanks Cap't Obvious).
Only way to know is to take washer completely apart. That takes about an hour. Labor is $60/hour. If there is something else wrong, those parts are not covered under warranty. I'd have to pay for parts then another labor fee(s) to get parts put on and washer back together. Looking at at least $240 not including parts. He says better to buy another washer. Maytags are crap now. Other repair guy said same thing. Whirlpool bought Maytag out and kept name since it's so well known. They now outsource the building of Maytags to another country so they are not built like they used to be. So now I guess I'm buying a new washer. :ohwell:
Sorry so long.
