This kind of stuff really affects me...I saw the story the other day about hatcheries grinding up male chicks and I cried for at least an hour..at work...like an idiot. But the thought of poor animals being abused when they don't have any recourse just makes me kinda sick...pooor kitty :(

I read about this the other day, there is just so much of this going on now a days and the worst thing is when they do catch the people who have done it, its kids who are like 15 or 16. I mean honestly you have got to be messed up in the head to do something like that. Do a search on the internet about animal cruelty and it's hard to believe. In New York I believe this 17 year old girl broke into her friends apartment and saw her little kitten. She turned the oven up on high heat and burned it to death. They caught her and she's probably going to get a slap on the wrist. I mean even if you don't like cats, thats still terrible. The laws against animal cruelty are not strict enough I think. They get a $500 fine, if that. I read and hear about it, and it just makes me so angry, I look at my cats and wonder how someone could be so terrible as to hurt a cat or dog like that. Just take a look at this website and see what I mean

No, it doesn't break my heart.

If they were so damn concerned about their damn cat they'd keep it in their house, and not let it wander the neighborhood.

MAYBE some neighbor got tired of paw prints on their car in the morning, or MAYBE they caught the cat taking a dump in their pool.

You want to love your cat, fine, that's your right, but keep them in your house and yard.

if people were were getting tired of the cat they could have easily called animal control and got a trap and took it to the pound. instead of shooting it with a bow and making it suffer. it was probably some sick individual who just wanted to laugh about it and see something suffer, a future murderer or rapist. and our judicial system is so backwards if you kill someone all you gotta do is plead insanity it seems and get away with a short sentence. i had dogs come in to my yard and slaughter my pet rabbits when i was 6 years old, my dad could have shot the dogs right there, but he didn't he found out where the owner lived.

WOW, wonder what your dad would have done if they had slaughtered you instead?

What would you rather they shoot the cat with? It doesn't mention the neighborhood, but I'm assuming a nighborhood with houses in close proximity, playgrounds, people walking and driving.. You think he should have got out the 7mm Remington Mag so it would be more humane to the cat?

Future murderer or rapist?? Really? Is that REALLY what you believe?? Someone gets tired of animals in his yard.. (emphasis on ANIMALS) and for the safety of his neighbors he gets out a bow instead of a highpowered rifle. Apparently he's not that great a shot (though he did hit the cat in the head).

Call Animal Control?? WHY? Why take up their valuable time? Like I said, if the owners were so concerned about their cat, they should have kept it in their house.

I guess I should have said that part, the lady got an attitude with my Dad so he called the cops and told them what her dogs did and she had to give us like $150 dollars because I guess rabbits are considered a form of farm/livestock animal. But it wasn't the money, we came home from a field trip and I saw my rabbits, and the baby rabbits strewn about my yard. That tramautized me I couldn't even stand to be around dogs after that for a while. But...it wasn't the dogs fault she let her dogs run loose, and thats what dogs do sometimes, they go after small animals

So I'm guessing your one of those people who hates cats and dogs. Doesn't like the thought of one in your house. Your probably a fish person, because thats nice and tidy to have, and it just swims around. And you probably are obsessed with watching sh***y birds.

So...your saying that if say I caught your kid(if you have any) in my yard vandalizing my yard, spray painting my car, smashing pumpkins, smashing my mailbox(like the little darlings do in Golden Beach) i could go out with a bow and shoot them in the head? Because people shouldnl't let they're brat kids run loose late in the neighborhood? And what about the people who walk they're dogs around on a leash and just let it poop in your front yard? why your outside!?

Furthermore the animal cruelty I'm talking about is people killing and torturing something on purpose, such as a group of teenagers who broke into a no-kill shelter and killed and beat all the cats and dogs to death for no reason. Is that okay too, beacuse they cats and dogs were minding they're own business? Not in anyones yards...Not on government time or money beacause it was an all donation run shelter? I think that if you research you will find that alot of criminals have a some sort of history with animal violence.

Didn't I say, EMPHASIS ON ANIMAL? What part of ANIMAL don't you understand?

I didn't catch the part where the kitty shooter broke into the animal shelter and beat all the animals to death. They shot ONE cat with (I'd PRESUME) a crossbow, which would mean the author doesn't know the difference between a bolt and an arrow. I REALLY doubt someone that shoots an animal in their yard is going to become a mass murderer or serial killer.. I mean if that was the case, all our Bambi killers would be members of the Jeffrey Dahmer fan club.

Like I've said before.. Keep your animals in your yard. Why do people think animal control laws don't pertain to cats? Is it any more pleasant to step barefooted in cat#### than dog####?

I'm at work and couldn't watch the video, but where in the article does it say someone shot it because it was in the yard? They don't know who shot it, so couldn't some one had just shot it for the heck of it? But I don't know maybe it's in the video, but like I said, the work comp doesn't let me access it.

I wouldn't dream of having an outside animal, all of my cats are strictly indoors. I just don't like the idea of coming home and finding one of my cats squashed in the road, even though I live deep in Golden Beach.

I was referring to another incident, (the animal shelter) not the one posted here.

Well stepping in any kind of poop with no shoes on is not a pleasant feeling, especially when you accidentally run over it with a lawnmower(yuck).

Maybe this cat was tresspassing and wore out it's welcome, but they're are alot of instances where someone just kills a cat or dog for the heck of it. That's why I brought up the animal shelter thing. Sometimes people just do sick and weird things.

As far as profiling you, you just came off as someone who simply doesn't like animals, and if I was wrong, I'm sorry for that. My boyfriend loves our cat, but he really doesn't care when something happens to another.

A LOT of asusmptions on everyone's part.. like assuming shooting an animal to KILL it is TORTURE?? I hope you're a vegetarian..

They didn't intend that shot, they intended to kill it. As luck would have it their aim was a little off and the little bastard didn't die.

I'm making an assumption that it was a homeowner NOT a teenager as others have suggested.. and it's not someone that gets their jollies torturing animals, or beating animals to death at shelters..

That's not an arrow like you'd shoot from a bow, that's a bolt from a cross bow.. Probabaly a very nice, well made cross bow (read expensive) not a toy. As I would assume gangbangers don't arm themselves with crossbows, and teenagers don't normally cruise the hood with them, that it was a homeowner probably taking a shot out of his kitchen or bathroom window with his crossbow, intending to kill the cat so it wouldn't leave pawprints all over his new $45000 Lexus, or would stop crapping in his pool..

Depending on the State, you could probably even go further, and look for someone over the age of 65, or someone that is handicapped in the neighborhood to find the culprit.
