So my friend finally brought me the stray her family found in the road. they let the kitties stay with the momma until they were old enough to take away..they were outside but it seemed better to let them stay with momma than take them before they were ready...anyway he is the cutest thing medium hair white with black markings kinda cowlike. and he is suchhh a sweetie.
here are my concerns, I was hoping some of the rescue people could help...first off he had a terrible flea infestation...knowing that it is dangerous to kitties the first night I gave him a bath with dawn to drown all the ones I could until I could get to the store (got him at 11 at night) Then I weighed him at petco..he was 2.04 pounds...JUST heavy enought o give him a capstar..which I did..that stuff works great! but my understanding is that it only kills the adult fleas? I got a flea comb and have been combing him several times a day to try to remove all the flea dirt and stuff...he is stuck in my bathroom because I dont want fleas in my house...plus I have another cat and I want to quarantine him before they meet...The bathroom rugs are all put away and he has a blanket and a towel that i keep washed..what can I do to get rid of the fleas for good? I know there have to be eggs around there is no way I got them all...also his ears are very dirty inside..I hope its not ear mites...any advice about the fleas would be so helpful..I want my little guy to be able to come out and enjoy the family!
P.S he is a cuddle kitty and doesn't seem real interested in playing with the toys I gave him..my female cat was nonstop player when she was that age (around 8-9 weeks) could that mean he is not feeling well?

Can you take him to the vet? Sounds as if he does have ear mites. Chances are the fleas eggs aren't on the kitten. Just keep combing him and you can bathe him as you need to in order to get rid of the adult fleas...make sure you dry him very well..using a blowdryer is good but use a lower temperature.
If he's just been separated from his mom and siblings and not used to humans, it will take him a few days to warm up and feel comfortable and then he will start playing.
I'd also have him tested for Feline Leukemia/Aids prior to having him around your female cat. :yay:
Good luck with your new little guy.

when you take him to the vet mention the fleas to them. I did when I took bruno in last week as she had them all over her tummy and they gave me a pill that kills fleas on dogs for 1 month (comfontis) I recommend if any of you dog owners have a flea problem and the vet gives you it watch your dog closes as bruno had an allergic reaction to it made her so sick (poor doggy) her symptoms were termbling throwing up and diareah. So I just put her dose of frontline on her friday and I haven't seen a flea since then but that stuff also has stuff in it to kill the eggs and larve and fleas. I had to bomb my apt (which isn't very fun as I have 2 cats that I also had to vacate when I bombed). the capstar only kills fleas for 24hrs after that if there are any new ones that hatch on her your back at stage 1.

We just took in a pregnant female that is approx. 18 months old - she has had no vet care all her life we were told - yikes that's not good! BUT she doesn't appear to have any fleas. We have her isolated and are waiting for her to have the kittens as we don't have the funding to run every cat to the vet immediately unfortunately, AND the vet office told us you can't treat pregnant cats for worms (or much else) anyway. After living mostly outside for 18 months I bet she has worms.
The best bet is always to see the vet first just to be on the safe side - the one in White Plains we went to with 2 recent rescues seems to be really good. I hope your new bundle of joy is healthy!
