If I am right, this claim is based on the fact that the Mayan Calender - stops - at the year 2012, and that Nostradamus could not "see" into the future past the same date/year.

Actually, I think you're forgetting that "B" has already been prophesied by Jesus. Secular science is only now just seeing what's coming and is confirming what Jesus already Warned us about:

Dec. 21st, 2012. I watched the History Channel last night, and saw some interesting forshadowings of things that may affect the outcome of environmental changes that - might - have an effect on that time in our lives.

Speculation? Maybe yes, maybe no. We won't have much longer to find out, hmm.....?

I've hear 1999, 2000 (Y2K), 2003 now 2012. Don't think it will be 2012.

You're describing "Armageddon" which is the lead up to the end of this world as we know it. Guess where most of the action will take place?

However, before that happens, Bible prophecy states that there will be a One World System, Government/Religion that takes a short-term control over the whole world - kinda like a "New World Order which is led by the forces of antichrist and demands that the world submit to its governance. The first 3 1/2 years will be a pseudo peace-pact; then things change at mid-point and the remaining 3 1/2 years are full of global turmoil.

So, there will be some signs that let you know.
