Anyone know how to rid the house, the beast (and the cat lolol) of a flea infestation? I am not exaggerating. My place is OVERRUN with the d*mn things. [All my cat does] is stratch.

I got a 3-pack of those D-Con "flea foggers," but they are really inconvenient. you have to set them off and leave the house (with the cat, in my case) for 8 hrs. or something like that. The thing is.....the little buggers come back.

I have ALSO tried that one called "Hot Shot.' THAT one works rather well; and IT SAYS on the can that you can actually spray the pet. Well, I'm here to tell ya that doing that is like trying to clip claws. If she sees it coming, she disappears.

I DID manage to douse her fuzzy butt yesterday evening but I haven't seen her SINCE. I don't know if she's sick (or worse) from being sprayed, or is just P.O.'d at me for doing it.

It takes multiple bombings and flea treatments to the pet to get rid of them. You MUST keep re-bombing. At least 3 times and make sure you are using the right amount of bombs for your square footage. I know it's a pain in the ass but it must be done to rid your cat and house of the fleas.

PS. Also spray your yard front to back for them.

The best way to get rid of them is to bomb the house, spray the yard with "Seven" (Seven won't hurt the animals) and dip the dog and cat all on the same day and do it again in two weeks.

capstar is good for getting rid of the fleas ont he cats themselves..so next time you bomb the house give them a capstar wherever u take them..its so much easier than trying to dip the cats... i hate fleas. terrible monsters.

Sevin is not toxic once it dries, but don't let your pets be near it until it is completely dry. And you can treat outdoor pet areas, but you shouldn't treat the pets themselves.

Ya know.....I THOUGHT about spraying the yard FIRST but never did. I'm betting THAT would solve the majority of my problem. My cat doesn't get outside MUCH, but she scratches herself almost to insanity, I'm sure; so the little buggers must be coming inside on their own somehow/where.

Of course, I don't know how much good sparaying my yard would do; I've got 15 pine tress; all of them (pretty d*mn tall).

My place is really small. I got a three-pack of that D-Con "No Mess" flea fogger and set off two of them in opposite ends of the house; which worked fine; but before I did THAT I tried vacuuming the whole house from top to bottom FIRST; THEN setting off the foggers; worked okay for a while, but, like I said, the little buggers came back; (and went straight for kitty kat.) Even I can feel the little b*stards jumping on and off of me while I'm at the computer or "channel surfing" in the recliner.

I guess I'll just get THREE MORE D-Con flea foggers and try setting off (all three) next time and see if that does any good.

BTW, IS THERE a flea killer concentrate or a 5-gallon bucket of a flea killer for the yard?

I guess I could go to Lowe's or Dyson's to find it.

TIA

Dont forget that when you vacume you should empty and clean the cannister or throw away the bag...people sometimes forget that..I didnt think of it till someone mentioned it.

capster?? What is that? Is it a pill or something? I don't mean to sound oblivious but I have never heard of it. Is it a "available at your Vet only" kinda thing or could I find it at a pet shop?

The vet does have it but you will pay a mint. I suggest looking at Amazon.com for it.

Well.....yeah......I know that part; but down in the stick where I live, this would become a routine, just like cleaning the yard of the blanket of pine needles (every......week).

You had a new hatching is what happened, try for the 3rd bombing finding some bombs that kills the pupae and the egg stage of the flea. Most bombs don't and you will pay for them but it is well worth it.

1) you need to bomb with the GOOD stuff which will have Precor in it, that's an insect growth regulator, which stops them from reproducing and stops the eggs from even hatching, Adams flea bombs are a good choice. When you bomb you have to do under the house as well. They go through floorboards and infest the crawl space and unless you get them out of there, you'll not get rid of them. The ones you've used may kill some of them, but they are hatching every minute, so it does no good.
2) Vacuum afterwards, and burn the bag in the yard, or take it to the dump.
3) treat the cat(s) with Frontline, apply it to the back of their skull between the ears, where it's hard for them to lick off.

You can get the bomb and flea stuff for the cat reasonably priced at Stauffers Feed supply on Rt 5 in Leonardtown.

You can get it from PetMed.com. Had to treat our dog last year. Just don't freak out when you see the fleas fleeing from your cat. They'll start dying/hopping off about 30 minutes after the cat takes the pill.

Good luck.

the vet gave me for my dog comfontis (don't give your animal that if you have a dog). it made bruno so sick i thought I was going to have to take her to the emergency vet clinic up in huntingtown. But luckily after she puked 10 times and trembled a little she was ok. I just ended up using frontline on her and that killed off what she had on her as its also got igr in it. I also bombed my apt with stuff that had igr in it. It also killed roaches and ants and some other bugs. My mom got it at kmart. I gave teh cats capstar and that is it so far (nobody has fleas now :) ) except me I have like 30 flea bites :(.

It's not that much. I think the last dog tab I bought was only $7 or $12 or something.

We treat the dogs and cat with frontline and never have a problem. Cat is an outside cat that comes in now and then, but he's flea free. Dogs are treated monthly.

I usually buy the box of 6 tabs if there is need for it so if you buy it that way it will cause a heart attack. :lmao:

You NEVER NEVER NEVER dip a cat...NEVER!
