My arm is always sore for a day or two. It was worse this year, I think it depends on the person giving the shot and whether you tense up. Headache is also common. Take some advil or tylenol..you'll feel better in a day or two.

anytime they give a shot deep IM .... ANYWHERE... you will hurt there. Just think how your animals feel when they get their shots and it does not go SQ and goes IM
good excuse to curl up in bed all day!!! :yay:

First its the FLU shot - second its a live virus - live - which means its the flu in a tube!!! Until you body re-creates the antibodies needed to fight the virus you will feel a little flu-ish. Take some tylenol or motrin for a few days. The injection site may itch - not uncommon. If you bruise or swell that could be a reaction and I would call my doctor. The flu shots are Subcutaneous not IM so there should not be any pain or swelling.

Oh No, you all are scaring me, I get my shot Tuesday, but Im really not to worried about. Grandaughter 8 years old got her shot at school on Thursday and missed school on Friday and is still a bit under the weather today.

The annual flu shot is not a live virus. The one that is put into the nose is a weakened live virus.
The swine flu contains a live virus.

I got one. Little sore in the area, but I lifted a 2 pound weight a couple times and all is well.

My son recently got a flu shot at his 6 month appointment. Luckily, he had no reaction.
I've never gotten one because I rarely get sick & I always heard that the shot causes flu-like symptoms. The pediatrician told hubby & I to get one this year because of the baby. Guess I should get moving on that. Hubby's job is offering them there otherwise I'd probably have to drag him.

From what I have read about getting the flu shot, you don't get the flu from it, it's just the reaction your body has to getting a shot. I've never gotten one either so I don't really know.
I'm glad your son didn't have a reaction to it. He will have to go back for a booster in a few weeks? I know my daughter did last year when she received it for the first time.
I'm still in question about getting the H1N1/Swine Flu shot for her. Hubby and I both said no, then he changed his mind after last weeks appointment and said maybe we should. :jameo:

Yeah, he goes back for his booster next week. As for the Swine Flu shot, we're not getting it for him or for us this year. Don't feel comfortable with it yet. Maybe next year after I see how it worked out this year.
