Hendrick avoids penalty despite inspection issue - NASCAR News - FOX Sports on MSN (http://msn.foxsports.com/nascar/story/10154946/Hendrick-avoids-penalty-despite-inspection-issue)

NASCAR allows a tolerance of 0.070 of an inch for the body off of the center line of the car. Suffice it to say, JJ's #48 car didn't make it. But by how much? NASCAR claims it was .006 over the tolerance. That's about the thickness of two sheets of copier paper. Others in the garage hint at a charitable disposition on the part of the sanctioning body. So how did NASCAR view the situation with the Hendrick cars? "The 48 and 5 were brought back to the (Research and Development Center)," according to a NASCAR statement. "We've been doing this since the inception of the new car as a part of routine post-race inspection. We bring the winner and a random pick back to the R&D Center after each event. While both cars passed postrace inspection, we informed the 48 and 5 they were extremely close on some of the tolerances."(in part from FoxSports)(10-2-2009)

Over the tolerance is over the tolerance. NASCAR needs to quit coming up with every excuse in the book whenever Johnson's team breaks the rules and be consistent with their penalties.

Hey Dippy you want some cheese with your whine.:lmao:

:yeahthat:

Aren't all cars checked against the specs prior to every race?? Checking for tolerances AFTER a race and finding someone out of tolerance to the degree of the thickness of 2 sheets of paper is no reason to disqualify..A bump in the race, a bump when loaded on a semi..who knows..BEFORE the race, I can see something done..not after 400, 500 miles racing and bumping..

Dippy is right ! :yay:Nascar is afraid of the Hendrick machine and its Power. :buttkiss: Several years back when the 48 won Daytona , Nascar suspended & Fined Knaus & Hendrick and I believed the Power of Hendrick was felt by Nascar!! Main Reason why I never pick the 48 to win a race .:cds:

Martin's car was over tolerance too. So why do you single out JJ? Because you are a Dip-####e! You're scared to say anything about Martin! Might offend someone huh?:baby:

P.S. I don't hate Dipweed, but I sure do enjoy pointing out what a hypocrite he is!

It's possible HD could end their sponsorship of the JGR 20 Car and Nascar ( I seriously doubt it ) considering the economy but I would still stay with the 20 team as long as there is NO Lowes loggo or Jimmie Johnson on Car As for Driver Logano is the future of Nasar and JGR . I have been a fan of Ryan Newman when he first came onto the scene racing Fords for Penske. All was going well until he switched over to Stewart-Hass and picked up Army as a sponsor. I am currently active duty in the US Navy. Not sure I have the heart to raise a Army Flag in my Yard every Sunday so I am still utilizing my Alltel one until I find something a little more....neutral. :tap:

Joe Gibbs discovered that driver long before Home Depot had a thought about coming to NASCAR, back when Tony was kicking ass in open wheel racing. :killingme

Oh, and Mark Martin discovered Joey Logano, not Home Depot. Just like Mark Martin discovered Kyle Busch.

Sounds like you should be a Mark Martin fan since he's finding all your favorite drivers. So, when will Sliced Bread win again? In Cup? :lmao:

I remember when Tony was first driving the Shell car in the Busch Series. Slick Rick and Jeff Gordon took a huge risk putting him in that car with a rookie crew chief (Chad Knaus). Look how that turned out.
