... according to Channel 9's Sara Walsh.
He's still the head coach though. He'll announce a coordinator tomorrow.

Does this mean he'll no longer be able to challange calls in the last two minutes of the game?

There's no need to announce a coordinator, they already have.
Sherman Lewis will be calling the plays.

Zorn is NOT the problem.
Off season, this team needed help on the O line and WR and got a retread and that's it. Now, the old guys are hurt, again, and this team simply is not good enough, never mind how much talent they think they have, to over come O line injures. Good teams struggle mightily when their starters are hurt.
The D was a top five unit last year with this exact same impotent offense and they are the ones that have fallen off. Yet Blache gets pats on the back for his guys doing a good job?
The whole plan was to have a hyper dominant defense and score just enough to get it done.
This is not Zorn's fault. He didn't build this Rube Goldberg contraption and Sherm Lewis or Jerry Lewis ain't gonna make it run any smoother.
Now, it was Zorn's fault to bring in Collins in the second half. That was a crap move. Has this team not embarrassed Jason enough in the off season? Start Collins, sure, but, not in the second half of a tight game where the Qb is simply playing at the same level you knew and expected he would.

It's about time. Seriously, a head coach being the playcaller on offense or defense is stupid. They already have to worry about being the head coach...worrying about even more doesn't make sense. Sure, if your team is doing well or your coordinator is terrible then you may want to relieve them of their duties, but the Skins are doing horrible. Never made sense for Zorn to call plays, especially considering the offense was horrific. His next job will be as a QB coach because nobody will want him as an OC.
BuddyLee -- the article says Sherman Lewis is a new offensive consultant, while Sherm Smith is actually the offensive coordinator. But like you said, the article thinks Lewis will call the plays.

Huh.
How about firing a decent coach with only three games to go and the playoffs still in reach? Is that stupid?
How do you feel about hiring a coach who said he'd never work for you? Is that stupid?
How about hiring a college coach who really isn't interested in the pro's but, you keep raising his pay until he gets interested? Is that stupid?
How about doing the same thing with a retired legend? He doesn't want the job but, you make it impossible to turn down because of the money. Is that stupid?
What's to bad about hiring a quarterbacks coach to make him a first time offensive coordinator and then making him head coach, which he has also never done, when the legend figures even all the money in the world isn't worth it? Is that stupid, too?
In context, what's the big deal? :jameo:

I don't know what you're referring to for the 1st two since I didn't really watch the Skins at all and never cared til they stole Spurrier from the Gators (#3)...but yeah in comparison it's not so bad. :lmao:

I would too. Who would want to walk into that?
Plus, as a player would you really 'get up' for the new guy in town?
They just ran the guy you've been accustomed with for two years out of town. I'd be pissed. There's a reason for interim coaches, sadly.

Shanahan could be an interesting coach option for the Skins. His zone blocking schemes were great in Denver, at least in the running game. I don't recall him having any top notch talent there, so maybe he could take a crappy OL and turn them into a serviceable unit without much talent upgrade. If the OL can turn the corner then it's possible the rest of the team could go with them. Or the rest of the offense will be exposed as frauds...but in the meantime, we'll never know as long as the OL sucks.
To be honest, I don't see Shanahan going to the Skins. But we'll see. The way they're looking, they will probably need to give a coordinator somewhere a promotion. Not many guys with a reputation will jump into that mess.
