Every Wednesday a group of us guys get together for beer and dinner, sometimes darts, ping pong, or pool. This time we went to The Lexington Restaurant & Lounge. We sat at the bar but they had a nice dining area and a room for private parties.

We had the wings, only two flavors (hot and bbq) but they were delicious and only $5.95 a pound. They were big meaty breaded wings; a nice change from some of the other wings served around here. Beer was cheep, for 5 blue moons it was $11 something.

They have two menus. The dinner menu had steak, seafood, and other great choices, but the hidden gem is the breakfast/lunch menu. Great selection of sandwiches and a terrific breakfast menu. We all had eggs, a large and tasty pancake, and scrapple! Nothing like kegs and eggs to top off a good night. It reminded me of being back home, being able to have a great breakfast and a cold beer.

The owners also own The Lunch Box in Bryans Rd. Im hoping this place makes it. The owner David was great and so was the staff. We told him he should advertise on SOMD to help bring in some business. Hopefully business will pick up.

Check out the website for the menu.

They have been open for about 3 weeks now and every time I go in there the owner always greets me, and makes sure I am being taken care of. The food has been delicious. I have tried some thing new every time I go there. Well except when they had stuffed ham. I went back the next day for it because it as so good.

Glad to see someone is finally doing something with that place. It has always had plenty of potential but no one put any effort or attention into it for a long time.

I hope they do well.

I have a friend that is a server there. She has an outstanding personality and she is always trying to drum up business. Hearing the wings are good (husband and I are ADDICTED to wings), we will definately have to give it a try. Thanks for the review!

The Lexington was definitely a shock. Let's be honest the location in town is not superb (unless you live/work close like me :yahoo:). But don't let that fool you the food was fantastic. The wings were some of the best I've had in a damn long time, if he expanded his wing menu a couple flavors he could run the new BWW out of business before they even open up. The beer was cheap, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere while a little confused between a sports bar, and a fancy sit down restaurant was pleasant. Obviously they are still new and could use a few amenities, like a some entertainments (dart board, etc). But these complaints are few and minor compared to the quality of food and service we had.

NOT impressed with the wings at all, you can get the same exact ones at Checkers. Nothing special about them at all. Same can be said about the wings at Grid Iron Grill. I guess I have to go to the Pub in Leonardtown to get wings with any flavor. Tomorrow night is 25 cent wings from 4 to 9. Well worth it.

Went there last night with my girlfriend and her daughter. My girlfriend had the seafood pasta with alfredo sauce, her daughter had stuffed shrimp, and I had the crab imperial. Both of them said their's was great and my imperial was too.

The imperial was a little flatter than most but spread out more. I'm used to getting a smaller but deeper sized dish. It turned out even better though, since it had more of a crust (my preference). It looked like it was going to be too dry but was very moist underneath -- a good surprise. Also had a very nice delicate flavor. Yummy!. The salads were good and fresh.

As for the atmosphere, it's a quaint, kind of smallish place but had a down-home feel too it. We chose the bar section which worked out fine for us, but it could have had a little less lighting for my taste. All in all, a very nice place -- great food, good/friendly service and something different. A nice change from all the canned franchises out there. We'll have to try breakfast sometime when there's a little less traffic on 235.

I've sent an entree back because it was cold. Open faced roast beef should be hot. I'm not one to complain or send food back either. So that speaks to how cold it was.
I hope they're not getting overwhelmed with the rush of new people coming to check them out. If they fix the bugs quickly they have a gold mine. I have noticed the few times that I've been there that their system of having those guys bring the food out and not having the waitress at least assist them is not working very well- there's alot of mess ups on what gets brought with what, etc. They need to have someone who at least knows who got what come with them to the table. Twice this system has left us without items or with the wrong sides.

Ate there tonight. Thought it was very good. Had the salmon. It tasted fresh and was cooked just right.

My only suggestion for the restaurant is that they should have more specials. I realize they're just getting started, and there are many things on the menu I want to try. But, eventually, over the years, a place can get boring if they never change their menu or add specials. I think that was one big problem with the Roost. It NEVER changed so people got bored with it.

We had dinner there last night. It was awful.

We started out with the cream of crab soup. It started as a promising night, as the soup was really very good, although a tad oversalted. It was loaded with nice big lumps of crab meat.

I had the steak special (medium rare) and it came out well done. I couldn't eat it, it was that overdone and yucky. The sides (corn and green beans were obviously canned, and the corn must have had the can opener taken to it three or four days ago....it was that old and discolored with a tinge of grey.

Hubby ordered a menu-item steak (also medium rare), and it came out well done, too. Odd thing: it was sliced very thin, but it took up almost the whole plate. That same steak could have been sliced thicker, and smaller, and it would probably have been a decent steak. The french fries were, however, excellent.

Thinking that the steaks could be saved by a steak sauce, we asked for some - the house brand steak sauce is atrocious.

Bubba wanted buttered noodles for dinner, and although not on the menu, the kitchen did accommodate him with it - it was a nice touch for them to entertain the whim of a 3 year old.

To give the place credit, they did take off money off of the check, and they did bring two desserts, both free - and we hadn't asked for any compensation. The pumpkin cake was very dense and very heavy...not very good. The chocolate mousse was good.

As we were getting ourselves ready to leave, the owner/manager (?) brought out two freshly-cooked steaks and sat them before us. They were beautiful pieces of meat, and they were cooked perfectly. By this time, though, we weren't hungry, but we did box them up to take home.

I feel badly for complaining about the restaurant, but had they brought out the second steaks instead of the first ones from the get-go, we would have had a very nice dining experience. Despite the nice goodwill gestures, I'm sure that The Lexington will be far down on our list of restaurants to re-visit....and we go out to eat a LOT.

A group of 5 of us ladies went last night and actually, I have to say the waitress, was the best darn waitress I have ever had in St. Mary's county. I tipped her accordingly, as I think everyone at our table did. I also made sure to tell her boss how fabulous she was. Food was good, not superb, but good. We all had the steak special with stuffed shrimp, mashed potatoes and a side salad, followed up with dessert. The mashed potatoes were obviously homemade. :yum: And it's one of the few restaurants in this area that actually has French dressing and sweet tea. But I have to agree that the steak sauce was the worst steak sauce I have ever tasted in my whole life.

Also they had entertainment last night which I thoroughly enjoyed.

All in all, a good experience. Fine dining it is not, but I will eat there again. I want to try their breakfast menu, and I am asking for my same waitress again.

I just don't order steak anywhere..i'm never satisfied unless I make it myself. I like it reallllly rare..and most places make it too salty...steak must be tough to make in a restaurant setting.

I wouldn't measure a restaurant on it's steak...or i would never go anywhere.

But it did sound like they went out of their way to make it right. That says a lot.

SO it was good... but I think we'll stick with Stoney's.

We ate there last night and it was ok. I had the roast and hubby had the country fried steak both of us had corn and mashed potatos with it. I didn't care for the roast and thought the whole meal was lacking flavor. Hubby said the country fried steak was ok but lacking flavor. We get the same meals when we go to Bob Evans and it is so much better at Bob Evans. I would go there again and try something else.

So my boyfriend, daughter, and I tried the Lexington last night for the first time.

It was one of the worst two dining experiences I have ever had.

Boyfriend ordered the salmon with green beans and coleslaw, daughter chicken fingers and fries, and I ordered the crab stuffed flounder with a garden salad and mashed potatoes and a bowl of crab soup.

First of all.... the lightening was very, very bright in the restaurant. Bright enough it made me very uncomfortable. We were sat at a table in the center of the room. I'm a booth lover (for a little privacy), but there are no booths available at the Lexington.

Our waitress took our drink orders quickly (water, tea, pink lemonade) and we had our drinks immediately. She came back to take our dinner orders. She got distracted at the end by something at the kitchen and walked away without taking our menus.

When she did come back to fill our drinks, I gave her the menus and my boyfriend stopped her to order wine for dinner (did I mention he hadn't finished ordering when she walked away?). There was no wine or drink list. When he asked what the house wines were, she didn't know. Finally, I suggested a Pinot Grigio (I knew the Indian Restaurant used to have that) and she left.

I received my garden salad just after, and my boyfriend received his chilled wine (not with his meal). The garden salad was okay. It wasn't laid out attractively. It had two cherry tomatoes and two cucumbers cut.... oddly. My boyfriend used to work in a commercial kitchen and I'm a good cook myself and the vegetables were obviously cut by someone untrained. The house vinaigrette was alright but very sugary. I was puzzled by receiving my salad before my soup.

The soup never came.

It took an hour from entering to get our meal.

My boyfriends wine was warm by the time the meal arrived. It was also very cheap, acidic wine.

The whole time the owner, (dressed in ratty jeans, a dirty shirt with one corner tucked into his jeans, and the rest left out), wandered filling drinks. He had to ask people over and over again what they were drinking interrupting their conversations. This might have been charming if the food was fabulous. It wasn't.

My boyfriend's green beans were canned. He said the coleslaw was okay, but not much flavor. The salmon was alright.

I had the mashed potatoes which were lumpy. The gravy was bland. The first bite I had of the flounder and crab was filled with bones. I spit it out. I started picking through the crab for more bones when I started really SMELLING the fish. It smelled awful. Smelled OLD. I love fish. I love crab stuffed fish. I was afraid if I ate this I would be sick.

My daughter's chicken fingers and fries were fine.

We decided to leave (we had promised my daughter dessert but went to Foodlion to pick something up). We told the waitress to take off soup (she offered to bring it out for home, we told her no).

I am starving (this is the first meal I've had all day).

My boyfriend picked up the check (I was supposed to but he felt bad) and left a very nice tip (which he shouldn't of).

It was until we were driving home he told me the meal cost $60.00 with the tip. I was livid. The bill was not itemized but this is what we figure.

Chicken/Fries $6.00
Crab Flounder $16.00
Salmon $12.00
Wine???? 4.00 for a glass?
$38.00

They charged us $51.00 before the tip.

If the soup was left on it was $6.00.
$44.00

Was the wine $10.00 a glass? The bottle couldn't have cost that.

They couldn't even get the check right.

We are NEVER going back.
