Not sure if this is true or rumor, but my son came home today and told me they are buliding a skatepark at the baseball fieldsin CRE. Anyone know of any truth to this? TIA

I am highly skeptical. Eney hates having the gardens behind his house so I seriously doubt he would put his special blessing on a skate park. Who is paying the insurance liability on a skate park? Sidewalks would be a great start IMO so you would have less risk of being hit by speeding cars.

The way the economy is wouldn't the money to build a skatepark be kind of foolish?

Didn't you hear the news that economy is almost fixed now?

The kids who live in the house on the other side of our court put up their skate ramp in the ballfield where the basketball courts are about a year ago. Security took it within hours of them putting it there so I'd be surprised if they'd want a whole skatepark there. There's enough of a problem with kids hanging out there and interverring with traffic.

We all need recreation, regardless of the economy. That's why the Video Game and Porn industries continue to thrive and grow, while the rest of the country decomposes like a beached whale led ashore by its own arrogant stupidity and trapped by its own useless bulk.

I heard the skatepark was supposed to be built in Cove Point Park though. Not much traffic issue there.

How about adopt a highway to help the community cleanup the trash that piles up daily in the Lusby area?

That would be great. OP just said that they had heard it was at the CRE ballfield so that's what I was responding to. I worry about a lot of the kids riding their skateboards in the street because a lot of them don't even bother to look behind them when they go to the other side of the street. Or they decide to do some stunt or swerve right as a car is heading towards them.

I think Rousby Hall road is already part of that program. Don't know about the other main roads.

They've been talking about building a skate park in Cove Point Park for about 2 years now. I don't know why they haven't yet. Funding? No clue.

one of the biggest complaints i hear from my teen is that there's nothing to do in CRE, so i think it would be a good idea, plus it would keep them from skateboarding on the street. one of these days some kid on a skateboard is going to take a fall right in the path of an approaching car.

What's the cost for liability insurance for such a park and are the residents going to be willing to see their HOA bills go up to support it...

Already happened approx 2 months ago on Lazy Lane. Kid got broken bones. A skate park is still not happening.

Somebody told me that it was going to be like Nicolette Park, with an empty pool, jumps and rails.
Pretty cool.
